As you may know, I vet new registrations due to the high amount of spam. I just ask why they want to join. Many don't pass the gauntlet of that single question – which amazingly causes many spammers to stumble with answers like "I want to chats" or just pasting their spam as the answer.

So I thought I should directly welcome new members that have joined us, and occasionally share a bit of non-sensitive info.

Welcome Kaduflyer who just joined us and said they're a fan of Byron. Perhaps a reason to decline the admission, but I will try not to judge them... they're from "MA" which I assume is Massachusetts in the US.

And welcome Skiffy who is a fellow Brit who is retired and wants to help keep B5 alive - here's to that.

Thank you Antony! Here's a potted list of whoo I am in relation to B5:

Saw The Gathering on first release and loved it (what a breath of fresh air).
Loved the entire series though I haven't seen much of the estended universe (Crusade etc).
Retired now but was a 3d modeller / animator by trade - and began with Lightwave.
Love all behind-the-scenes and production type material. Have worked in a studio complex.
Now find myself with more time (kids are grown) to indulge in interests like B5.
Followed the career of Ron Thornton from his start on Blake's Seven through to Foundation Imaging.
Create scratch-built models (physical and CG) for fun.

I'm happy to be here and have a few ideas on what I might want to pursue as a B5 interest - more on that in a dedicated thread later. :)

Oh, and my name comes from the word 'Sci-Fi'. Skiffy!

Would love to see any of your 3D modelling work. Ron's work on B5 was next level and elevated the series a great deal. He's not given enough credit for amazing the Shadow designs. In the early scripts the shadows were something you saw out of the corner of your eye and Ron really defined what the Shadows became.

Hello Ubik. I've done an awful lot over the years, mostly working in a development studio. We created pilot episodes for many production teams as well as our own in-house projects. I guess the closest I got to something like the Shadows was a creature design for a proposed animation show called Soul Warriors. It was originally a 2d affair but with the success of shows like Foundatioon Imaging's Roughnecks we felt it could be suitable for a 3d treatment. After all this was early days, the late Nineties.

I did a lot design work for that project including environments, characters, creatures and props. This particular creature was a large spider-like swarming enemy. I produced the concept seen below which was approved, then (modelled by me IIRC) textured by me and rigged by one of our lead animators.

CrawlySketchG.jpgI'll see if I can dig out the actual model.
