I think Galen does mention what happened to Elric but it wasn't by name I don't think in Crusade when talking to the other mage Edward Woodward but I am drawing a blank on the exact words and the name of the episode right now.

Alwyn mentions something about Elric probably not being happy about Galen being back (not in the hiding place), and Galen responds that he (Elric) had passed beyond, not long after reaching the hiding place. No, Galen didn't say "Elric" but the implication was definite.
