Reaction videos

Found another reactor on YouTube that I've been enjoying (I haven't watched all of her videos for B5 yet though).

Shelley's Babylon 5 reaction playlist.

.

You nailed it! That is exactly what I needed to see. :brickwall:

:p:guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::guffaw::p

And let's face it. I can't complete with attractive women. It is not fair! They are always going to get more views because of how they look. (Shall we debate the sexism in this instance?) :guffaw:

This is absolutely fantastic. Someone requested Peter Jurasik do a Cameo for MegaReacts. Which he then did in character as Londo. And he was clearly having fun doing it.

The video is on mega's Patreon page. Go here and set the tier filter to public. It should be at the top.

I want to thank everyone. You have REALLY given me the confidence to move forward with this project. .... LMAO!!!!!! :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

That was a lot of fun. Not only does he still remember how to do the voice... he could do actual Londo-sounding speechifying off the top of his head.

Each to their own, I am not shitting on people doing and enjoying this stuff. But to me this is hell. From the need to be over the top in some videos if you're selling reactions, to one of the later links where the guy is much calmer but you still can't see the video itself and it's like half hearing a conversation.

I want to watch TV. And if I watch it with someone I want to discuss it after but not before. I just find the entire concept of an entire stream of thought just alien to me and quite awful.

I swore I would never also like people playing games and streaming them either. I finally broke that recently with Anno 1800 and enjoyed a video series on YouTube. So I can change... but I don't see myself ever liking reaction videos.

I had not watched Sleeping in Light for 25 years... so I had to work myself up to watch Medusa's reaction. Was everything I expected and hoped for, but it was very difficult to watch.

I don't think I'll be watching SiL again, at least not for another 25 years...

I don't do reaction videos... not so much for Ant's reasons, but because I know I'd never stop watching them. Medusa was my one and only exception. So her emotion about saying goodbye to the show had a bit of a mirror in me, as I was saying goodbye to her, too.

She is up to "Ruling from the Tomb" in Crusade, then perhaps LoTR. Not sure about possible restrictions for reviewing new content such as TRH, but guess we'll find out in a few months...

I am a bit late on this, of course, but are slowly watching my way through Medusas B5 videos. It is great fun! And I am impressed by how perceptive she is with a lot of things.

Some extra trivia: She watched/reacted to The Road Home (months?) before it was released, JMS was also in her video, although she didn't post it till the release date.

@Looney, did you get anywhere with your YouTube channel? Maybe someone should do a B5TV YouTube channel!

There's a whole slew of reactors doing B5 now. Warp Reactor is now up to season 5, and he has been great and loves the show but recently I've started thinking he sometimes gets so wrapped up in providing a reaction for his videos that his reactions end up ill-judged and then he has to walk them back. https://www.youtube.com/@WarpReactor/playlists

IrishLatinoReacts is okay... I'm not convinced he really 'gets' the show and his lack of attention to detail often sees him miss things or really misunderstand things. https://www.youtube.com/@irishlatinoreacts1842/playlists

Marie-Clare's World, she is also half way through season 3 and she really enjoys it, though she doesn't 'react' much in her reaction videos – often it is just her silent as she watches – but her videos are shorter than some of the other reactors. https://www.youtube.com/@MarieClaresWorld/playlists

Just Some Bodi's opinion, now on season 2 and has just seen The Coming of Shadows. He's recently taken a dislike to Franklin because of The Long Dark, but he really likes Sinclair – which is a common theme I see among reactors, which is great considering the flak he got from people back when the show was airing. https://www.youtube.com/@JustSomeBodisOpinion/playlists

Then there is a bunch who have just started season 1, and I find all of them excellent with super production values and insightful commentary.

BunnytailsREACTS really knows her science fiction, and will drop in references to other shows and books, and again really likes Sinclair and Londo: https://www.youtube.com/@bunnytailsREACTS/playlists

Funnylilgalreacts, is again very insightful, thinks Londo's great (I wonder how their opinions are going to change as the shows goes on...) https://www.youtube.com/@funnylilgalreacts/playlists

Subspaceparlor: I really like these guys, one has seen B5, the other hasn't, and they are also watching Star Trek TOS as well. For the people who don't like emotional reactors, these two are pretty calm and understated. I can see them watching it and really taking it all in, like they are studying the show. https://www.youtube.com/@SubspaceParlor/playlists

And then there's Schlockheads, they're not bad, maybe not as measured or insightful as the others, again one of them has seen B5 and the other hasn't. They enjoy when Sinclair punches people! https://www.youtube.com/@Schlockheads/videos

There are a couple of others as well but I don't really watch them. Something I've really noticed, and I've mentioned above, is that everyone (well, almost everyone, excluding B5 for the First Time) really loves Sinclair. I just find this so gratifying. I always liked Sinclair from watching it originally, but lots of people didn't. What is it that makes his character and Michael O'Hare's acting resonate with people now when it didn't in the 90s?

Always a Sinclair fan, but till the VHS release had mostly seen him in flashbacks, WWE, or flipping channels to find the last few minutes of The Gathering (Beep Beep). Wasn't able to watch season one till purchasing it on VHS in 1995?96, but always enjoyed O'Hare's portrayal of the character.

Perhaps impressions are different if one doesn't have to wait a week+ between episodes with a new series, and with streaming/media can replay scenes, which one couldn't do originally without a VCR. Although having seen WWE first, also knew Sinclair's outcome before watching the first season. Favorite short Sinclair quote is from WWE Pt1: "Tradition". Favorite short G'Kar quote is from Convictions: "So do I". Not to mention the ending of The Parliament of Dreams. 😀
