NFL Ratings

Well folks,

This Saturday night aired an NFL wildcard playoff game (raiders and jets). Does anyone in 'the business' know what kind of ratings that game pulled in? Just curious to see what kind of numbers Rangers is gonna be up against. Judging by how packed the bars were with the game on, Id say they drew a decent crowd...

It was a great game, indeed.

But, please, someone would like to explain to the Head of the Jets Special Teams what is the ONSIDE KICK.

What was that play? What could they possibly be thinking? There was only two minutes left.

Damn Jets.

Understanding is a three edged sword.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Fast National Ratings for Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002

ABC scored a touchdown Saturday (Jan. 12) night, pulling an 11.9 household rating/ 20 share -- almost double the ratings of its closest competitor for the night, CBS. In second place, CBS drew a 6.0/10, according to Nielsen Media Research. FOX was third with a 5.1/9, followed by NBC's 4.1/7.

Among adults 18-49, the gap widened with ABC scoring an 8.0, followed by FOX's 3.0, NBC's 2.4 and CBS' 2.1.

At 8 p.m., ABC's "NFL Wildcard Playoff Game" grabbed a 12.2/22 for the hour, while CBS' "Touched by an Angel" pulled a 5.6/10. FOX's "Cops" nabbed a 4.5/8 at 8 p.m. and a 5.2/9 at 8:30 p.m., while NBC trailed with a repeat broadcast of the Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston film, "The Bodyguard," 3.6/6.

At 9 p.m., football dipped slightly to an 11.6/19, while FOX rose to second place with "America's Most Wanted," 5.3/9. CBS' "That's Life" pulled a 5.3/9 for the hour, while the NBC movie's ratings increased slightly to a 4.1/7.

At 10 p.m., football continued to stay on top, pulling a 12.0/21, while CBS reclaimed second place with "The District," 7.0/12 -- its best numbers for the night. "The Bodyguard" also rose to its best numbers in its final hour, taking in a 4.8/9.

Even people in the business take the weekend off.

The first place you might find the "major market overnights" is in the Programming Insider column on mediaweek.com

But, I don't think he gets on it until Monday morning.
