Melissa Gilbert, Anna Sheridan in B5 and real-life of Bruce Boxleitner (John Sheridan), has swept to victory in the SAG presidency race. The SAG is the Screen Actors Guild of America, and Melissa takes over from departing William Daniels.
Her husband may have got to portray the president of an interstellar alliance, but Melissa is the real president now, thanks to the votes of SAG members. She received 12,280 of the 27,730 ballots, which equals a 45.3% share of the votes. Her closest competitor was Valerie Harper, who received 39.4% of the vote.
"I'm thrilled and honored to have been elected SAG President and am extremely grateful to everyone who worked on or contributed to my campaign. Mike Farrell, who was elected Guild First Vice President, and I are looking forward to embracing and working with all the different voices in the Guild and its leadership. We're also looking forward to working with our fellow unions to bring film and TV production back to the United States," said Gilbert.
At her official website, Melissa said:
"I am honored.
I am relieved.
I am grateful.
I am ready!
Love,
President Gilbert."
Many congratulations to Melissa!
Thanks to Jen and Chris.
