Chapter 14 Double Trouble

Furrell had to excuse himself from the dinning room as he talked to Nerrel. Latiya sat in the dinning room, looking around. She got up and began walking around. Whatever was going on, she had no idea if she could help.

A few minutes later, Furrell reappeared with his brother behind him. "I’m sorry, Latiya. This could not wait. Nerrel wants to know if we would help him train."

"I’d be more than happy to." Latiya said.

"Fine. We’ll start tomorrow. Is that okay, Nerrel?"

"Thank you." Nerrel replied.

"You can go now." Furrell said with annoyance.

"Right. It was pleasure meeting you, Latiya."

"And, you." Latiya said.

Nerrel went back down the hall and after Furrell heard the door close, Furrell sat down.

"I’m really sorry about that. My brother is not exactly…"

"You should never speak ill of your brother. There may come a time when you will regret it."

"You do not know my brother well." Furrell said.

"How can I if I just met him?"

Furrell laughed. "You are clever."

Latiya blushed. "I like to think so."

This statement made Furrell laugh harder. Since laughing is contagious, Latiya giggled. Furrell soon stopped laughing and just stared at Latiya. Latiya also stopped laughing.

Next, they found themselves being pulled towards each other. Latiya closed her eyes and drew even closer to Furrell.

"Furrell, mother-"

Furrell opened his eyes and looked over at his brother. Latiya did the same.

"Nerrel! Will you just…go away? Furrell said angrily.

"Furrell, be kind to your brother. I’m sure he has something very important to say." Latiya said quietly.

Furrell sighed. "Okay. What is it, Nerrel?"

"It’s mother. She’s demanding to speak to you now."

Furrell got up and walked off. Nerrel came over and sat next to her.

"My brother has the knack of getting good friends. I think you are the best choice he made."

"Am I that much different from his other friends?" Latiya asked.

"You’re the first to stick up for me." Nerrel confessed.

"I never had any brothers and sisters. I would hate to see them mistreated."

"I’m not mistreated. I am just simply…well, I have a lot expected from me. That is why I wanted to get away and join the Anla’shok. I did not want to be forced into doing things. I want to serve our people."

"Who is your father?"

"He is-"

"Nerrel, I swear you are such a trouble maker!" Furrell said with exasperation.

"It is not my fault that I am what I am."

"Come on, we have to get out of here. Mother is not happy and she wants you off of Minbar. Latiya, I am so sorry."

Latiya stood up. "I would like to join you. Just let me get dressed.
