It's hard to say. I can't imagine carrying on without Chekov, but they could just kill off the character. If they can kill all of Vulcan, they can kill one character.

It is so very sad to hear that Anton Yelchin has died in a freak car accident. He was so talented as Chekov in the reboot of Star Trek. So very sad.
