Will do ... erm ... as soon as my book arrives. :D

    Some B5-Galactica Similarities

THX1138 ... a movie I have never seen, nor have any desire to see, but still recognise the title and significance of immediately. Does that say more about me, or George Lucas? :p

Battlestar Galactica The Greatest Scif show? or Babylon 5 [Spoilers for BSG S4]

Re: Battlestar Galactica The Greatest Scif show? or Babylon 5 For me, Galactica is a weird show. It has some really good stuff going on, some nice mysteries and intrigue, but I do find the lack of any kind of lighter touch wearing, and if being a human has taught me one thing ... when the going...

Being in possession of it is alright ... seems to be getting rid that causes the problem! :p

    Jump Point Inside A Planet

I thought it was the atmosphere that protected us from the worst parts of solar rays, and the magnetic field that protected us from ejected charged solar particles (i.e. solar wind)?

    Crusade

You can find the beginnings of some answers to these question in the trilogy of Technomage books, and in the unfilmed scripts ... reviews (although not copies) of which you can find here

Not the best analogy, since War And Peace could stand to lose a hundred or three pages. :p

    Changeling News

To be fair, very little news comment about movies ever mentions the writer ... I think Studios and Directors like it that way. There is far more for the studio to gain in marketing terms by focussing on Angelina Jolie being the star and Clint Eastwood the Director, as they will sell the movie to...

Firefly/Serenity from the perspective of a "Feminist."

I was going to reply again, but what would a douchebag really have to contribute!

Firefly/Serenity from the perspective of a "Feminist."

Well, I do like to consider myself not a total douchebag, but clearly YMMV. I cannot claim not to love to eat, but I got sick of being 18-20 stone and have no intention of going there again now that I am not.

Why Are The "LoTR"'s Special Effects So Different From B5?

Problem was ... like in any creative industry ... Foundation and Netter Digital were effectively creating the FX on a commission from WB, which means that it all belongs to WB and not to the FX company. According to JMS, WB wanted everything handing over and no backup copies kept by the...

Firefly/Serenity from the perspective of a "Feminist."

Actually, we do. It just doesn't do us any good. :p

Firefly/Serenity from the perspective of a "Feminist."

Personally, I was delighted that Joss had a happily married couple as main characters in this show. Far too few of those in TV in general and SF in particular. Also struck me that Wash was unlikely to be able to force Zoe to do much of anything that she didn't want to. I cannot believe that...

Louis Turenne (Draal #1, Brother Theo)

Re: RIP Louis Turenne (Draal #1, Brother Theo) I always liked John Schuck's performance, particularly in The Long Twilight Struggle, and thought overall it was very theatrical ... which, since John Schuck is a highly respected theatre actor, is no great surprise. We can argue all we like over...

    Dr Who - Season 30 (4) [SPOILERS]

Re: Dr Who - Season 30 (4) Agreed ... I have enjoyed both eps so far, and I think the dynamic between The Doctor and Donna is potentially brilliant. I love that she just isn't shy to challenge The Doctor's outlook with the hard questions that need to be asked.

    Beyond the Rim

I think as much as anything "Beyond The Rim" has taken on a double meaning since the show aired because JMS uses it as a handy (and highly appropriate) metaphor for dealing with those characters and actors who have subsequently passed away. As a line of dialogue, the TLT line about G'Kar and...

    Beyond the Rim

Perhaps they don't need beacons simply because they have been around so long and know and understand that galaxy so well that they no longer need the reference points used by the younger races. All that knowledge and experience is useless once they get beyond the galactic rim and into unknown...

    B5Tech.com question?

A further thought ... do they have a general issue with webmail accounts. I am registered on some boards that insist that I can only register with a "proper" domain based e-mail account. I.e. no Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail etc.
