    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

Re: B5: TLT 1.0? He mentioned the same thing in a 1997 usenet post, when someone asked him what would happen if TNT really wanted a sixth B5 season. You can find it here. Does that provide the context you were looking for? It is interesting that he basically has been walking around with the...

    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

Re: Actual B5:TLT News Guess I was misremembering the production schedule of B5. Thanks for correcting me. :) edit: Just for completeness sake, I also found this on some industry newsletter website called Production Weekly: No new information in this one really. I really would like to know...

    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

Re: Actual B5:TLT News Wasn't it 6 days per episode for season 1-4, and 5 days for season 5? So if you take 40 minutes per episode, that's roughly 6.7 minutes per day, and 8 minutes per day of film shot, respectively. If you take 90 minutes for TLT, that translates to roughly 6 minutes per day...

    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

Re: Actual B5:TLT News Ok, slightly on topic post here. :) I saw this article at Hollywood North Report: The only new bit is that it is going to be shot in 15 days. But still, it's news. ;) And it sort of confirms Boxleitner is back to play Sheridan I suppose, for those not convinced for...

Jerry Doyle show 10/24 about B5 TLT

Thanks again Jan. I suppose there also might be some left over resentment of the public disagreement Jerry and JMS had a couple of years ago. About some new B5 television project that Jerry said he was setting up, and, what was it again... JMS's "controlling bullshit" interfering. I think it...

Thanks for doing that Jan. I'm really curious exactly what he had to say.

    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

Re: Actual B5:TLT News Just a correction; it's one DVD that's being made now, with 3 stories on it. Potential later DVDs are planned to carry 3 stories each also. And this pretty much what JMS has said. That any subsequent instalments are conditional upon the success of this first one.

    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

Re: Actual B5:TLT News There is a difference between that and saying you don't believe anything someone says, because of track record of "fooling" people. When has JMS done anything that gets remotely close to saying something is being produced, contracts have been signed etc., while in fact...

    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

Re: Actual B5:TLT News The only thing I can think of as far as deleted scenes goes is the stuff that was shot for the cancelled Sierra video game. From what I remember reading, they shot some scenes with the original cast for it. It could be interesting to see if that could be dug up and...

    JMS giving B5:TLT hints?

Heh. The whole page-gate thing isn't such big news over here (I'm Dutch), but I did see a chatlog linked on one of the forums I frequent, and man, was that ever creepy.

    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

Re: Actual B5:TLT News The only way I would like to see a story about these characters is if it is about the part of you that is left behind in others when you leave a place, as G'Kar puts it in Object in Motion, IIRC. A story about how the Franklin or G'Kar characters have touched others, and...

    JMS giving B5:TLT hints?

I think we're on the same page here Joe. If it would've gone at the end of season 4, it would pretty much have been a connect the dots thing. Garibaldi betrayed Sheridan under Bester's influence, but there could very well have been lingering trust issues, and other things that would've made it...

    JMS giving B5:TLT hints?

That's interesting, although as bean says, maybe we're reading too much into it. Still, I like to speculate about this type of stuff, so hear goes: There is the (to me) kinda odd line in Sleeping in Light, where Franklin asks Garibaldi if he wants go see the dying Sheridan (to which he answers...

    Babylon 5 and HD...

So the long piece of text I wrote down was correct in what I thought you were talking about? Although this is slightly more involved than what you said in your first posts about this here. ;) But I got what you were saying by post "#369795 - 09/10/06 06:00 PM".

    Babylon 5 and HD...

I'm sorry, I didn't word my question as clearly as I should have. I meant to ask, why would the 480p CGI retain more info than the one natively rendered in 480i. If you mean 480p60, then after transferring it to a 480i60 format, it is going to look exactly the same as natively rendered 480i CGI...

    Babylon 5 and HD...

Both the model files (what you call cad type files) and the scene files (where the camera and model movements were laid out for the shots) were lost, I believe. Recreating the model files would actually be the easier part of the equation, I think. And some is going to be recreated for TLT anyway...

    Babylon 5 and HD...

That still would be an incredibly labour intensive thing to do compared to going with the CGI route, I think. And even computer assisted hand adding detail would be called rotoscoping, far as I know. Obviously. But that's because of a lot of things that are different between film and something...

    Babylon 5 and HD...

Since I'm reading this thread again anyway, might as well go over this issue one last time. :p What you're still doing here is applying the term 'interlacing' to wider issues than what the term strictly means. I think you might be talking about the motion properties of a 3:2 pulled down...

    Babylon 5 and HD...

You do have so called HD-Scalers. with the quality of the source information, it won't look particularly good though. As they say, garbage in, garbage out. (garbage here only referring to the video format quality of 480i) What you're describing would be hand rotoscoping to manually add detail...

    Babylon 5 and HD...

I believe that's called a "3:2 pulldown". Not sure if that was what was used for the NTSC version of b5, but from what I understand, it's a pretty common way to go from 24fps to 30fps.
