I think "the rim" being explored is "the rim of known space" not necessarily "the rim of the galaxy," which is "the Rim" in the last few episodes. In other words, the term "the rim" probably has multiple meanings, like the term 'the frontier" does in our own histories.

Not much of a question in my mind. The Technomage trilogy was the one I enjoyed the most, because the charactors actually "spoke" in the voice of the TV charactors, and so I found it very appealing. Plus, it answered the true, deep questions of the two series that were answered nowhere else...

I would go further and say it was a GREAT idea, executed clumsily. It was what every Trek fan wanted, but too tied up in the Trek same-ol' same-ol' "ooh, let's have a time travel plot! We haven't done that since last episode!"

My feeling has always been that these posts by JMS are "stream of conciousness" types of posts, which makes me think that the "encoded message" was an afterthrought to what he had just said, which would imply soemething to do with the DVDs or commentaries. Nothing solid to go one, of course...
