    IT'S DEAD, JIM?

Re: IT\'S DEAD, JIM? Remember, though, that these WB films suits are the ones who thought Gilligan's Island would make a great feature film. I put nothing at all past them.

    IT'S DEAD, JIM?

Re: IT\'S DEAD, JIM? It seems way too early to say this.

EpDis: A Voice In The Wilderness Part 2

This one lacked the unique Londoness of the first ep, so rates more lacklusterly on my radar screens.

    Re-watching Crusade

But the SAG guidelines for "Major Role Performers" state that Major performers being ones who Now, we are not here to quibble about SAG rules (and there are exceptions to the rule i quoted which JMS may well have considered to apply, notably the "day performer contract." But Pat's statement...

    SPOOOO!!!

I like the picture that is next in that sequence (the one where the finger in the foreground is now just a stub). Turns out that isn't Spoo, it is an infant (and hungry) Shadow.

    Re-watching Crusade

And your source for this "er, no' is what? Pat Tallman said what the reasons were for her non-appearance. You claim they are bulshit. Document this, please. You may be right, and she may be wrong, but I believe the principal long before I believe the "expert."

    The merits of Byron

But this points out the really interesting elements of Byron's charactor. If he had been entirely a rational, interest-seeking person, he would have been boring and so not worth JMS's time to write about. instead, Byron was a messianic figure who was entirely wrapped up in his own image ofwhat...

Best season to start watching B5

Good point. I never got that into words, but you are right about season one (at east the better portions of it). Unfortuantely, it isn't a uniform feeling. Sometimes, Season One is just Star Trek done poorly.

    Re-watching Crusade

Actually, the Pat Tallman story is a bit more than that. Actors are hired by the week, not the day, and that is what PT asked for for her role in TPoS (the actor replacing her was paid for the week). Budgets being what they were on Crusade at the time, they couldn't afford (did not want to...

EpDis: A Voice In The Wilderness Part 1

Yes, in retrospect it is sad to see that this, the Londo as Londo thought of himself (noble, self-sacrificing, carefree) was not the Londo that fate had decreed. The best feature of this episode was telling us that about Londo - and explaining why Delenn continued to feel it worth her time to...

Best season to start watching B5

I think that (having shown this several times to doubters after a few episodes) that In the Beginning works for non-fans as well. The problems are in getting to the final resolutions. The show starts with exposition, is interrupted with exposition, and ends with exposition, and only that final...

Nicely done. I don't think I have seen anything nearly as good. Maybe we can start connecting some more dots.

    The merits of Byron

Re: Cutting Byron from season 5 Quite well put (as is you later, unquoted part about Byronic semblences). We were not supposed to like him, we were only supposed to (slowly) understand his impossible situation, and that of Lochley and Sheridan. I would say he was more sympathetic than...

"Mystery object" mentioned in Movie DVD Commentary

Re: \"Mystery object\" mentioned in Movie DVD Commentary I will have to try to find it again, but one of the prop guys (I think) from B5 definately said somewhere on the net that it was the Oscillation Overthruster being referred to here.

Best season to start watching B5

True, but it also has some of the most moving dialogue in the entire arc, and concentrated into a coupla hours. "See you in hell" is good. "They never ran out of courage... they only ran out of time" is better, and "we will not lie to you... anyone who undertakes this mission will never come...

Best season to start watching B5

Some really good points being made in this thread, but frankly we are talking about stuff we all know in retrospect. Had i been given the chance to save lifespan by skipping "infec...." er, the episode JDM referred to, I would have. I cannot have that hour of lifespan back On the other hand...
