Would you replace your DVD sets?

Yes. I was making a point about change for the sake of change, not the widescreen thing in particular (after all, the aspect ratio is pretty irrelevant when it comes to the Mona Lisa). I'm not sure I agree that the story is sacrosanct, but everything else is just shiny packaging. It seems to...

New vote for worst episode ever: Between the Darkness and the Light

Err... Have you actually checked which other blah season 1 thing that is that it's sandwiched between...? :)

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I didn't know that. I'm rewatching BSG at the moment, and having a lot of fun playing 'guess which are the Canadians'.. :)

Would you replace your DVD sets?

I would view it as more like calling in a comittee of artists to overpaint a bright and glossy new background to the Mona Lisa, taking advantage of the opportunity to add in modern improvements like highways and aeroplanes, expanding the whole thing out to a 16:9 ratio and feeling mighty tempted...

    Shadow Philosophy

I don't think they were made weak, since it seemed to take so much to kill them (for the battlecrabs a telepath, and a lot of concentrated firepower). If the shadows had intentionally made them weak, it seems to me they would have made them a lot less invincible than they appear.

New vote for worst episode ever: Between the Darkness and the Light

Oops, to be honest I thought it was Heresford Lane too, but when I googled the line to check the spelling the first web page to come up spelled it Harrisford.. Well, I found a reference to a Heresford Lane in Queensbury, NY, but still no sign of one in London..

Would you replace your DVD sets?

Alex, I agree 100% with that. I'm not even very keen on the special edition of the Gathering because it uses effects shots from much later in the series. And Ron Thornton's (later Netter Digital's) effects were such a big part of what made B5 revolutionary, and were such a big factor in getting...

    That I wholeheartedly agree with..

    German R2 TV-movies dvd boxset

I don't think it's really a case of one cut being better than the other, I think both cuts are about equally good.

Incidentally, I also think the ambiguity works fine. If you follow the DNA explanation, the triluminary is attuned to Sinclair's DNA because the last use to which it was put was transforming him into a hybrid. It responds to Delenn because she is his descendant, and to other humans who are...

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I don't really follow that, isn't the whole point of most religions exactly the opposite? And why single out DNA (which in any case isn't alive)? Based on what Delenn and Lennier say in Passing Through Gethsemane, Minbari believe that the soul is a non-localised phenomenon. It's a projection...

Shadow War Question - Minor Spoiler

I found it anti-climactic the first time I saw it. It seems at this point JMS switches from a parallel storytelling approach to a more sequential one, essentially so that everything can finish tidily and satisfactorally at the end of S4. However in retrospect I can appreciate that the first 6...

The Illusion of Truth - Worst Episode?

What I enjoy about this episode is just how twisted and plausible the alternative scenario presented by ISN is - and just when you think it can't get any worse, it does. But as an episode it is kind of static. Literally actually, since the cameras are locked in place for much of it. And unlike...

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I remember reading that one, words couldn't describe how bad it was and it put me off for a long time.. The two from that series that are worth reading are the Shadow Within and To Dream in the City of Sorrows, which are canon and tie into the main plot, plus the three canon trilogies. All of...

EpDis: Crusade: Appearances And Other Deceits

Yeah, this was the point where JMS basically said screw it, and wrote what he felt. And this was the last one to be shot before TNT pulled the plug, although I'm sure that's just coincidence.. It seems like a pretty inconsequential episode, but I think it's helped along enormously by being...

B5:TLT -- just the news. And we mean that.

It's evolving as I watch, now it's up for pre-order at £10.49 plus p&p. Play.com is a better deal at £9.99 including p&p, but I think I will order it from Amazon to help push it up the sales rank. Wonder if we can push it to the same dizzying heights as our US cousins? Incidentally, it's...
