The intro sequence was bang on the money. Bit unsure how I feel about what looks like a direct adaptation into live action, but I'll check it out for sure. Love the original anime.

I must admit it is nice discussing this here, Facebook and Reddit are unbearable, it's a torrent of 'noooo, this will ruin everything' and 'I will raze the earth and salt it before I watch a show with a new cast', etc, etc...

It does bode well, that in his tweet JMS mentioned the B5 reboot in the same breath as Westworld and BSG. This means the show will be a drastic overhaul, which I can totally get behind. We'll be getting something very different, and I'd wager, nothing like a straight remake that some fans seems...

I have seen plenty of CW shows pop up on Netflix. I feel like distribution will be fairly global.

It's an American TV channel partly owned by WB and partly owned by CBS I think. Tends to cater towards teen audiences, shows are often a bit low budget. They've had the most success with adaptations of DC comics properties for series: Arrow, The Flash, Lois and Clark and other stuff like Jane...

I'm as intrigued as the rest of you, but it being on the CW puts the fear into me. Most of their shows are pretty awful with low production values. Part of me wishes it had been the rumored animated series, or at least made for HBO MAX. I guess we'll be waiting a few years to see what this...

Did you guys not see the 'Central Perk' tier on JMS new Patreon tiers? Seems legit. I am also waiting for JMS new spiritual guidance, cooking and meditation events for a LOW LOW monthly fee. :lol::lol:

I did not know the script was written! I followed it with interest, but never heard that. When did he announce that? Pretty cool. Any hints as to what form it took. It also means he must have felt pretty confident about it happening as writers rarely draft anything without an agreement. Anyhow...

I re-listened to the panel before leaving my comment. I find that JMS presents it very confidently, and says in no uncertain terms: I will write the script next year (2015), I will offer it to WB, if WB pass we are making it and we have investors interested. It's all said in quite strong...

I think so... I mean, absolutely no one thought BSG needed to be resurrected, and that was a massive hit that crossed over into popular culture and made SF 'cool' again. I know a lot of people who don't give B5 the time of day due to the somewhat shaky acting and how dated it looks.

If animated features / series are a thing, then I think I'd feel fine about a reboot in a different medium. It definitely gets around a lot of issues. Who knows what it'll be at this point!?! I guess we just wait and see.

On balance, I think JMS learned a lot from the San Diego outing, and has been a lot more cautious with announcements, waiting for things to be locked in contractually. But the B5 Movie thing left a bit of a sour taste because it was presented so confidently.
