    doctor who on sci fi

No, it's not a retelling. It's a restart in the sense that it's designed with a new audience in mind (I had never seen any old DW when I saw the first episode of the new series and had no problems getting the point), and isn't too heavy on continuity, but it is essentially a continuation of the...

    '24' Season 5 (SPOILERS)

Re: \'24\' Season 5 (SPOILERS) Just how can *anyone* be as stupid, weak and incompetent as Logan is? :| I'm almost hoping that at some point we'll get to see some positive qualities he has ... I mean, he has to have some, doesn't he? (Although yes, I believe that is not going to happen...

    Firefly Season 2 possibility?

Hm.. I guess we'll see. I wouldn't mind seeing Firefly continue in some shape or form on TV, but I'm not hugely bothered about it anymore. And I'm rather preferring to take the "not too likely" approach for now anyway for whatever rumours, to avoid disappointment if they don't materialise...

    '24' Season 5 (SPOILERS)

Re: \'24\' Season 5 (SPOILERS) I thought he looked familiar but just couldn't place him. :D As for the first four hours being just a distraction... yeah, but at least it was still directly connected to what is happening next. I just kind of doubt that Cummings shares the aims of the...

Re: Missing Dr Who? Hmpf. While I like the outer design of the R1 box, I'm not sure the inner design is so practical either. Much more space-saving, yes... but any design where two discs overlap (i.e. you have to take out one first to get to the one under it), sucks. :D Bleh. Why...

Re: Missing Dr Who? I think it's roughly equal to nine normal DVD cases in width... so it's way too large for me, yes. Even if I do like the design in principle, it's anything but practical when one doesn't have unlimited shelf space for DVDs. The R1 design is a lot more like a "normal" box...

Re: Missing Dr Who? Thanks, I know about the separate releases, and actually have considered doing just that... but I'd rather have the extras and commentaries as well. And the 5.1 audio, just in case I actually get around to getting some sort of home cinema system with surround sound at some...

Re: Missing Dr Who? Considering the big American flag behind the TARDIS in the main image for the BBC news story I posted the link to, that should be fairly definite, yes. ;) The quote "SCI FI Channel is the perfect home for the show and will introduce Doctor Who to a whole new generation of...

Re: Missing Dr Who? Well... hardly one of the last, as I reckon there are at least a good 180 countries who are not getting it and probably never will... ;) (Saying it as one living in one of those countries with not much hope of ever getting it, yes.) And yes, I was under the impression that...

Re: Missing Dr Who? Well... seems that it is delayed after all. Grrrr, as I planned to get the North American version once it's out, but I guess I'll have to put that off for a while longer too then.

Re: Missing Dr Who? It's not up for preordering yet anywhere (although I think at some point Amazon.com did have a page for it, just without any dates or preorder information). It should be out on 14 February though, unless there is some sort of delay, so hopefully it appears soon.

    Dr. Who Christmas special

Speaking of the Christmas episode, the two teaser trailers on BBC's site were bad enough, but the 30 second trailer really makes me wish it was Christmas already. *weeps*

Region 1 Doctor Who (2005) DVDs in February

It's so weird... when I first saw that second picture, my first thought was "this almost looks like a Drakh". Heh. :D

Odyssey 5 is coming to DVD!

I just got the notice from TV Shows on DVD too. :D That's excellent news, really. Especially as I stopped watching the not-that-good downloaded episodes after the first four or five, as I really liked the show and decided to wait until I can see it in better quality .. it's been a long wait...

Region 1 Doctor Who (2005) DVDs in February

Looks like the US is getting its very own release (in the sense that no importing from Canada needed :D) of the new series in February as well after all. News story from SciFi.com. Also confirmed on BBC's official site.

    Top 20 Geek Books...

Hm. I've only read the first two... Hitchhiker's Guide just recently, and 1984 in school (together with everyone else). Not as good a geek as I should be, apparently. :|

    Online Doctor Who Episode

I very much want to like Tennant's doctor, but unlike some others, he just hasn't grabbed me from the very first moment. Doesn't mean he won't grow on me of course. :D (With Eccleston, I knew and liked the actor before he became the Doctor, so that made it much easier to immediately accept him...

    Online Doctor Who Episode

Watched it last night .. hm, still not entirely convinced by David Tennant. Not sure what it is about him that bothers me, just a little. But then, the clip was short, and at least for me the audio turned pretty difficult to follow for the later part of the mini-episode. *is waiting for the...
