Chilli, thanks for clearing up my ignorance on the point. My surprise comes from several points - in the films, Sherlock always seems to know everything about everything. He seems to know all the government functionaries, and what they are up to, i.e. In the last ep, he solved the forgery crime...

I've seen the third ep now, and liked them all. This Holmes is the most maniacal yet. But, the part about 'Sherlock doesn't know the Earth orbits the Sun' seemed ridiculous to me.

What little I've heard about it sounds nothing like Earth 2, which I hated. Can you post a link to any info that describes it, making it seem like Earth 2?

I believe there are actual announcements, from what I read on the AVS forum. The show is time travel, backward, and forward. The show will start with a two hour premier, in May. It will continue in the fall. Brannon Braga is show runner. They just laid off a bunch of top-flight writers...

Definitely, if anything, amplified. I'm a Brett fan too. This one is different, but quite good.

PBS has just started showing a 3 ep series of a new, 21st century Sherlock Holmes, made in the UK. It has Dr. Who connections, with Steven Moffat doing it. The first installment was quite well done. I'll admit I was skeptical about an update, but IMO, it works well. It is on PBS Masterpiece...

Agreed. I think it is clear that the plan from the start was to compose the CGI shots so that they could be cropped to 16x9, and uprezed to HD, but WB dropped the ball, in at least two ways. This is clear in what everyone has posted.

A direct answer to that question is, I would change nothing but the resolution, and the aspect ratio to 16x9.

I think the ST:TOS updating was tastefully done. Things looked better, but still looked like they were made in the 60s, just better. I think it would be theoretically possible to do that with B5, but given how much more CGI/FX there was, cost would be prohibitive. Also, there is that annoying...

Estelyn, the actor is Brad Douriff, a fine actor who got an Oscar for his role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

I loved it too, as you say, for the whole scene, lighting, and the setup.

Sindatur, nice summation. I guess I basically got that, but like Republibot, I just found him coming back almost instantly a little too pat. But, I did enjoy the ep. I am also wondering if the events in this ep fulfilled Riversong's hint that she would kill the Doctor. Also, didn't they just...

Okay, I saw the final ep last night. The Dr. saves the universe, and all time, and manages to even wind up on the right side of the dimensions, so he can go gallivanting across the space-time continuum with his best buds, Amy and Rory. I enjoyed it well enough, even if it seemed predictable...

I watched one ep and liked it. My DVR is just about full of movies right now, so I'll probably try to catch more as repeats.

I don't recall "The Romans" ep. I thought that probably the Doctor, or maybe Rassilon, was already in the chamber, so I was surprised. I'm looking forward to the finale, too.
