Rather then trying to go for 3 loose soft-cover books, you might want to try your look at the hard-cover book that bundles the Centauri trilogy. That's what I did and in the end the price of the hard-cover bundle was the same as what some people where asking just for book 3.

Yes, there are two versions, and at least in region II both of them have appeared on DVD. At first the original version, later folowed by the new version. The new packaging will always have the new version, but if you buy one with the old packaging (no longer in stores, so you'd have to buy one...

I also think we are blowing up Earth ourselves. The guy is far to composed and calm to be in a (apparantly loosing!) war. Also: the guy is asked to hurry or else he would miss the celebration. You´re hardly likely to celebrate when your homeworld is about to be destroyed by hostile forces.

The mayor cities of the USA are hit by two dozen or so nuclear explosions. USA falls into chaos while the town of Jericho is trying to make ends meet.

Would "Jericho" count as pre-planned? The writers sure seemed to know where they where going. Had it not been aborted I think Firefly would count as well, after seeing Serenity I do get the impression of long term planning.
