Yes, they did show some serious first steps towards freeing the altered telepaths. But further work in that direction would require Lyta (there is no indication that any other psychic was strong enough to pull that off) and she ended up with other priorities.

But it most definitely does show possibilities. I just suspect Lyta (who had a sensetivity to shadow influence, and enormous beyond-the-scale power) was the only one who could do it.

I know that Byron is one of the most controversial characters in B5.

That's why I decided that it would be interesting to create this poll.My personal opinion is that Byron had good intentions but was a bad leader and he was partly responsible for the death of his followers so I vote "No".In spite of that he had some very good lines like:
"How many angels can dance on the head of a pin".It's one of my favourite B5 phrases.

So let the party begins.
His followers willingly joined him when he pulled the trigger, understandable, given the alternatives they were given. I wouldn't want ANYONE messing with my mind, unless I asked for a scan, to recall an old memory, or find something. The scene with Byron teaching Peter to control his abilities was heart- warming, he cared. It demonstrated he was a good teacher, due to his previous mistakes and homosuperior attitude he could be, um difficult but after getting no back up after finding they'd all been messed with genetically by the Vorlons was wrong. Maybe nontelepaths thought a home world would be a threat. I'd want him for my teacher, I knew he was going to pull the chair away from Lyta after offering it to her. I love the character, the role and the acting as Byron by Robin Atkin Downs as Byron, (XXOO), he was flawed for sure but had some noble ideas. Poor Special Simon.
"be Seeing you," mundane Mary friend to the resistance of the corps. On star trek everyone would have been happy with Ice Cream and cake, I was nearly in tears over Byron and the other TPs, the offer is open to those on the run for help if a lowly mundane would help. Peace, and we should think for ourselves.

I did. I felt the character had a less-than-likeable personality, but you could see how he was perfect for putting Lyta where she needed to be for the rest of the story (and for her story after B5). I thought he was quite effective at showing how dedicated, sincere, and arrogant many from the Psi Corps could be. And quite frankly, I can see how Lyta would find him to be just who she needed at that time to get out of her slave mentality.
He could be charming, or not, intelligent, reactive, and many other qualities that outweigh the negative, I do n't see him as a cult leader, but I love the character, story, and Robin's acting, I thought he was older. Byron is on my wall and guards my mind when I sleep, I'll always "Remember Byron,), with love.
