Viewing order for B5 movies

Sorry, didn't really think that counted as a spoiler since its been discussed to death (pardon the expression) and since in the Rangers pilot itself G'Kar says mournfully of his unnamed travelling companion, "She's gone now", which is simply not the wording one would use for someone who is anything but dead. Given that we already know who G'Kar was touring the universe with, it is hardly a stretch to know who was meant. Also the fact of Lyta's death (though not the circumstances) is mentioned in the Telepath Trilogy. It may also be mentioned in passing in the Centauri Prime books. Mac will know (and cite chapter and verse if it is. :))

Regards,

Joe

It would have been shown in the Crusade episode 'The Path of Sorrows' if Pat Tallman had appeared as planned. It's also in the Crusade Writer's Bible along with the name of the person (not gonna spoil that one, nosirree!) who was with her.

Lyta's death during the Telepath War isn't exactly a spoiler because we never see it; it's a story that just hasn't been told. We only know it happens through jms's contact with fans through the internet and his having told us that way that it is during that conflict that she dies.

Thats good to know I guess :p

It's just that I havn't seen all of B5 yet. I've nearly finished Season 4 and then I'll be watching In The Beginning and then going directly onto Season 5 and the final 2 movies. I won't be bothering with Crusade or LOTR most likely :p

You'll be missing some good shows if you skip Crusade. Rangers didn't get far enough to have much effect on the universe perhaps, but there's some excellent stuff in Crusade, even given the amount of interference.

Jan

Maybe at the right price. I guess I would always enjoy the chance to extend my custom B5 cover's since getting Crusade adds another spine.

If I see it for 39.95 AUD I'll grab it.

Crusade does have a different feel than B5, so you'll have to be aware of that going in, but there are some pretty good episodes -- enough that it is disappointing that TNT stomped the show into oblivion.

I've seen people make a pretty case that the half season of Crusade that exists is actually better than the equivalent first half of the first season of Babylon 5.

Of course, since B5 is such a major example of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts, it is also reasonable to say that such camparisons of parts is entirely beside the point.

A Call to Arms (probably December 2266) takes place after Legend of the Rangers (sometime in 2265.) (Crusade S1 is set in 2267.)

Among other things, the Telepath War has only recently ended (and Lyta died) at the time of the Rangers pilot. By A Call to Arms Psi-Corps has been disbanded, the new rules for telepaths are in place, telepaths have been allowed into Earthforce and wounds have healed sufficiently for a memorial to those killed on both sides to be erected.

Regards,

Joe

Final Reckoning - The Fate of Bester, pages 212 and 228.

Nope, not there. It would have been in my notes, and it isn't. Although it does contain the death of another beloved character whose name begins with the letter L (Book II, page 210).

It's just that I havn't seen all of B5 yet. I've nearly finished Season 4 .....

So, anything from Season 5, In the Beginning, The River of Souls, A Call to Arms, Crusade, or the novels (The Shadow Within, To Dream in the City of Sorrows, or the three Del Rey trilogies I listed above) should be considered spoilers, correct?

...and then I'll be watching In The Beginning and then going directly onto Season 5 and the final 2 movies. I won't be bothering with Crusade or LOTR most likely :p

In the case of Crusade, that's a BIG mistake. The Centauri and Technomage trilogies have a lot of ties to each other and to Crusade. It (Crusade) is a rich story that was populated by some really interesting characters (and actors), and it should have been told on the TV screen.

If I had to pick five episodes to be produced (stories or scripts written but not produced as TV episodes), they'd be:

"Genius Loci" (from the short story)
"Hidden Agendas" (from the short story)
"The Nautilus Coil"(from the short story)
Crusade: "To the Ends of the Earth"
Crusade: "End of the Line"
