Sam Egan settling in?

Recoil, as I said in the Non-B5 related forum, I actually watch Dead Zone because of my roommate, and it's not bad... for a show on USA. The first two episodes were the best ones so far.

The star is the guy who played the nerdy kid in The Breakfast Club, but he's all grown up. I couldn't even recognise him until it was pointed out to me, then I didn't believe it, then I accepted it.

The main character suffered a couple of head injuries, the last one leaving him in a coma for 6 years. When he wakes up, it turns out he has this ability to see the future or past about people he touches. The series explores different ways that effects people and how they deal with it.

There's other stuff involved, like his ex-girlfriend (played by the second Dax) is now married with a kid, but it's the main character's kid biologically. The success or failure of the show will be based on how clever and interesting the various situations with his ability are.

but if that nerd was a librarian, then wouldn't people ask him about where to find certain books all the time?

It is amazing how easily it is for people who don't know how to read can fool people. You notice how he glanced at the paper J&K had with the list of books they were looking for and said, "if we've got them, you more than welcome to borrow them"? Also, he made people write down the books they were taking and not him. Plus, if people asked him where books were, he could always say people move them around and he has limited resources (which is true). There is always an excuse. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I doubt just telling a dyslexic person to "concentrate and switch the letters around" would solve the problem so quickly and conveniently.

True but my guess is that once you are aware of the problem you have a much better chance of correcting it.

Don't get me wrong as I had some of the same problems with the episode as you did ... I just didn't have as -much- of a problem with these points. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Ah, don't worry, Lyta. Those nerdy quibbling points don't really bother me*, and I'm better about then most hardcore fans. I'm usually not clever enough to catch them, anyway.

I didn't like the episode because, well, I just didn't like it. The lecturing really bugs me- it makes my feel like I'm in trouble at school or something, and I react now the same way I did back then: bored and annoyed. I wouldn't even mind it that much if they were at least saying something interesting, but "books are good" and "racism is bad" are hardly revelatory messages.

Next week's epidode: Jeremiah and Kurdy teach us that child abuse is probably not a nice thing to do.

But, there is hope: I have tonight's episode saved on the DVR. Hopefully, it will redeem the show.

Unfortunatley, if this week will be like any other week, I probably won't get to it until Wednesday or something.

*Ok, so the dyslexia thing did actually bug me. It just seems so insulting to people who help dyslexic kids for a living- it's so easy, anyone can do it, duh. It's like how they dissed psychologists in K-Pax, but that's a whole other story... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Mighty GKars Eye--Are you talking about Part1 of the Season Finally, or tonight's show?
