'Firefly' Wins Emmy, ENT Shut Out
It's been nothing but good news for "Firefly" fans over the last couple of weeks. First, news is released that a movie will be made based on the failed Fox series. Now, Joss Whedon has an Emmy statuette associated with the series.
The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recently handed out creative Emmys, with "Firefly" picking up the award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series. It beat out three nominations from UPN's "Enterprise" -- "Dead Stop," "The Expanse" and "The Crossing" -- as well as the "Buffy the Vampier Slayer" episode "Chosen."
The winning episode for "Firefly" was "Serenity," which included the visual effects team of Loni Peristere, Kristen Leigh Branan, Emile Smith, Rocco Passionino, Lee Stringer, Kyle Toucher, Jarrod Davis, Terry Naas and Chris Jones.
The Primetime Emmy Awards will be presented Sept. 21 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
