How many other 90s genre shows get this kind of press?

Here's The Atlantic recommending B5 quite highly, a mere twenty-five years after it went off the air. (And actually I'll answer my own question: one, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I'd include Next Generation but it got rolling in the 80s, and X-Files petered out, if I recall. Did I miss anything?)

    Scott Manley

Any other fans of Scott Manley out there? Space and science YouTuber, heavy on the space. Actual knowledge of orbital mechanics, etc. His latest episode was on space stations. At one point in the video, he started... veering off course. And all of us here would know exactly where he was going...

It Was the Dawn of the Third Age of B5-Watching...

Some years ago, my partner finished showing me Star Trek Voyager and we moved on to a show of my choice. Since we'd already finished Buffy, I picked B5. We got as far as "Gray 17 is Missing" before we broke up. But not all was lost, because my ex remains committed to watching the whole show! And...

Cute NASA video with a familiar face

This educational video put out by NASA, teaching us (in song form) about the electromagnetic spectrum, is clearly designed to have the computer be the creeper, since it's straight-up GLaDOS from the Portal games. But for us here, this may appear to be a clash of creepy titans. NOTGLaDOS...

    Kinda Unexpected

This is pretty neat/spooky/drawn-out... Not for the impatient.

    This seemed awful cute.

And yes, B5 is in there if you look hard, but since it's mostly other shows I put it in this forum. My friends, I give you the Periodic Table of Science Fiction Film and Television. A big version is available here. Be sure to check out the molecular formulas in the lower left.

    More 'bots?

We seem to be having another spambot incursion; and once again they seem to travel in packs. Any idea why? Anything we can do to keep them out this time? Or should we just hand the mods some shotguns and let them go 'bot-huntin'? Of course, there's always this method for keeping them out...

    Generation Kill

Anyone seen/heard of this one? David Simon and Ed Burns -- the masterminds behind "The Wire" -- have adapted a book called Generation Kill for HBO. It's about a Marine reconnaissance battalion which helped lead the way in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, as viewed by a Rolling Stone reporter...

I bet you weren't expecting this...

Firstly, watch this: http://drhorrible.com/index.html Then read this: http://whedonesque.com/comments/16734#236716 The three-second version, you ask? Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion, and (reportedly) everyone Joss Whedon has ever met teamed up to make a musical about a supervillain...

    What is Science Fiction???

Some of us might get a kick out of this. Be sure to read the Q&A session at the end, where a small B5 reference slips in. http://johncwright.livejournal.com/171782.html

    How... odd.

I'm seeing all the threads in the various forums displayed by "thread title," not last post, and in ascending order, not descending. While I can put it back the way I want with the controls at the bottom, it resets to thread title/ascending every time I switch forums. This is mildly annoying...

    Dollhouse

Joss Whedon -- the creator of Buffy and Firefly -- has a new TV show in the works. He's teaming up with Tim Minear, his partner in crime on Firefly, and Eliza Dushku, who played Faith on Buffy and is a) quite the actress and b) a real cutie (check out this thread over in NC17 for pics...

    Farscape

Since I've had a lot of free time on my hands, I thought I'd give Farscape a try. I'm almost (but not quite) through the first season. A lot of the eps. were only okay, not terribly impressive -- but then I was raised on Babylon 5 and Buffy, so my standards are rather extreme. I knew, however...

Something of a labor of love...

I'm a history geek. I also love to write, and to invent worlds. This occasionally leads me down the path of inventing worlds just so I can write their history... and to other efforts as well. I wrote this a few years ago. Today, as I was working my way through the Narn-Centauri War and waiting...

    Whatever Happened to Brother Theo?

After Louis Turenne couldn't come back for "The Long Twilight Struggle" JMS created the role of Brother Theo for him and -- as I recall -- promised it would be a much better role. After three appearances Brother Theo drops off the map. Of course, so did Draal... but JMS's difficulties with...

    B5 Books for Sale!

I am going to be moving soon, and I'm going to sell off some of my (rather massive) library before I do. Some of them are B5 books, so I'm giving you all first cut at them, because I know they can be hard to find. I am offering: The Shadow Within (original printing) Deadly Relations (Psi...

    What's an "Active Member"?

According to the stats down at the bottom of the main page, we have 1400 members and 160 active members. Does this really mean we have 10 lurkers for every person who posts regularly? And... totally random question... did the term "lurker," meaning person who visits but does not post on an...

    It's a rare comic strip...

...that can work in not one, not two, but three classic sci-fi references into a single strip. Check it out: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/comics/brewster.html
