B5 seasonDVD specs, pops, scratches problems

Having just watched Babylon Squared, I have noticed a few problems with the CGI effects. Some movements of ships is not as smooth as it should be. One scene where Ivonava walks into the canteen during this episode looks as though it was lifted from an entirely different print such is its grainy...

B5 seasonDVD specs, pops, scratches problems

Pretty sure that it has nothing to do with the DVD player used. The white scratches I am seeing are actually on the film print. I'm not sure how some people don't seem to notice these marks. Perhaps UK PAL TVs are making the problem even worse because our system is higher definition than NTSC...

Some minor B5 S2 DVD news

Shep was the best Blue Peter presenter Other than the occasional Dr Who/Blake's 7 slot, the show was often awful but the clip included on the DVD is where one presenter teaches viewers how to make a teleport bracelet out of orange juice bottles Odd how so many of us remember that segment...

Some minor B5 S2 DVD news

You are wrong there Joe. Archive shows shot mostly on video always require extensive restoration to remove artifacts, sound dropouts and background noise. Take a look at http://www.rtforum.co.uk/ to discover the pains of improving and remastering old Dr Who DVDs. A third of most B7 episodes were...

Some minor B5 S2 DVD news

I think they should take longer so that Warners can carry out the restoration needed on some pretty dreadful film prints. The BBC have spent a whole year remastering one season of Blake's 7 for DVD and B5 deserves the same loving care and attention minus the scratch marks.

B5 seasonDVD specs, pops, scratches problems

Same here. Across all episodes whenever there is a light background the scratches are almost unbearable and have ruined my enjoyment of the series. How film stock that is *only* ten years old can look so bad is really beyond me. The picture also looks too soft (useless NTSC transfer??). If...

    A disturbing, but necessary post

Hmmm...very interesting. I'm fairly new to the forum and have not read any of the posts from this character, but anyone claiming to be involved with proposed magazines etc, should be treated with extreme caution. I think Dylan is genuine because he mentioned in an interview that he was posting...

I do not understand SCI-FI's reluctance

Re: I do not understand SCI-FI\'s reluctance I too am worried by SCI-FI's change of heart regarding Rangers. Do they not like the pilot? Have they fallen out with JMS? They must know that the B5 & Crusade audience will watch and support it. Whats going on? Waiting until next year to confirm...

Hello from a long winded Cap'n Dave

Re: Hello from a long winded Cap\'n Dave Many thanks to Dylan and the rest of the LOTR cast and crew for taking the time to post. It's fascinating reading and I can't wait to get this new fix of B5, though I've no idea when we will get it here in the UK. The plot details sound excellent and I'm...
