The Ranger compound was a lot different to what Kiera had expected, not that she saw much of it. After being passed quickly through the standard security checks, Natheen introduced her to James Elliot, one of the Rangers who guarded the Presidential and Alliance Complex.
“He will take you to Entil’Zha Delenn. I have to return to space.” Natheen informed her. Kiera was slightly disappointed. She had begun to respect Natheen in the little time that she had known her. “I have no doubt we shall meet again, Kiera Walters,” Natheen continued. “I will monitor your progress, should you choose to train with the Rangers.
James coughed quietly, his brown eyes looking from Kiera to the Presidential Complex. “Entil’Zha is awaiting Ms Walters arrival Natheen,” He gently reprimanded, and Natheen smiled to him.
“I’m sure she will understand a slight delay Elliot. Now do not forget the fourty credits you owe me from our games.”
“And I thought Minbari didn’t bet…” He laughed. “Or lie. But you do bluff rather well.”
“Bluffing is different,” Natheen replied, deadpan, and returned to her ship.
Smiling, James looked at Kiera. “Natheen’s bark is worse than her bite. But she’s a good blackjack player. I’ve been ordered to take you straight to Entil’Zha… but unofficially, she’s resting until two.” He frowned slightly.
“Resting? Is she ill?” Kiera asked. Delenn had seemed fine from the conversation, albeit brief, that they had shared on the White Star bridge.
“Define fine,” Elliot joked. “Entil’Zha is physically well…” He paused, “For a Human-Minbari hybrid who’s six months pregnant… but she tires easily.”
Shock passed through Kiera. “She’s pregnant? But that was thought to be impossible?!”
Elliot smiled, “The human Rangers were taking bets on how long it would take for them to figure a way around it. It is possible, but it takes a lot out of her. And I will get shot if she finds out I’ve been talking about her.” He paused. “Well, maybe not shot, at least not until the President has finished with the nursery. He’s convinced it’s a boy and she’s determined to prove him wrong.” James laughed. “Come on, I’ll show you around here first.”
