For the love of god... what is it with the US mass-market appeal of crap?
First Spider-Man takes shit load of money (shit making shit)... and now Pirates of the Caribbean.
I finally thought I'd break and see what all the fuss was about today... and... well, I'm not sure.
Could it be the utterly formulaic story? The predictable plot? The bad lines? The boring, uninspired direction? The unimaginative soundtrack? The dodgy Depp acting? The utterly contrived "buddy" moments, so we can have a cutsey look at the "little people" as we laugh at their ho ho ho antics? I don't know, maybe all of them. But *especially* the story. It was just... gng... argh... horrible thinking about it.
All in all, very poor. And I'm not sure what is worse, that or Spider-Man. Pirates did have the lovely Knightley woman admittedly, and Spider-Man had Kirsten Dunst in the rain....
