The Official BSG S3 Spoiler Thread

I remember watching some of the just to see...and yea, they were HORRIBLE. Its a wonder anyone watched that show when it aired...

Everyone I know was converted by word of mouth. The buddies of mine who introduced me to the show were initially scornful themselves, and were only convinced by a friend who sent them a tape with A Sky Full of Stars, Signs and Portents, and the S1 gag reel.

I got some of those trailers on some tapes I got at a fleamarket here a few years ago, before the age of DVDs, of Star Trek: TNG episodes taped off US TV channels - had some B5 trailers in the add breaks. Terrible stuff, indeed. Especially the pornstar voice.

The promos for BSG are just getting more and more cheesy. They're all soap opera / romance elements instead of the good stuff. And there's usually some lame Nickelback song playing in the background.

Made by TNT I believe. Three things sucked ...

The voice
The incredibly earnest script he was using
The squealy guitar music

Other than that, they were great.

:D

I love watching those on DVD for some reason, they just seem to go completely against the whole concept of B5...

Sheridan must fight for his life... on the next..BABYLON FIVE!!!!!

I never saw them, but I can well imagine.

It seems to me, there are only approximately 3 men on Earth who have the job of doing film/DVD trailer voice overs. They are all very similar, very cheesy... deep and grizzly sounding... like they have smoked too much since the day they were born. I have a feeling they are locked in a room somewhere and they are never let out.... because you never hear those voices anywhere else except in the cinema or on a DVD.

I also believe they are incredibly ancient, they seem to have been doing voice-overs ever since the talkies began.

Back to the B5 trailers and I thought that the ones that appeared on VHS releases towards the end of season 2 and early season 3 were pretty good, although they did slightly misrepresent B5 in places. I'm just watching late season 4 again and am seeing the In the Beginning Trailers before episodes, they were ok too (but VO Man is present). I don't remember being too keen on the Season 5's trailer.

So....

Was I the only one here who instantly thought of the show "Cheers" when I saw the title of last night's episode: "Taking A Break From All Your Worries"

??

Aside from the Cheers theme reference, I thought the episode was kind of "blah"

LOL, I saw a post somewhere else this morning, that referenced Cheers.

Something like "Sam and Diane and Frasier and Lillith have apparently resolved the Love Quadrangle, Norm stabs Cliff in the back with a pen..."

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with the episode either. The whole Apollo-Starbuck-Anders-Dee thing stopped being interesting to me many episodes ago. I am glad that it seems they've finally ended Baltar's endless dribbling about whether or not he's a cylon. I'm glad to have that, hopefully, over. I think my favorite thing about the episode was Gaeta's character. He's the only one who did something I didn't expect (but was totally appropriate and in character for him, I think) in his wanting to and trying to kill Baltar.

I rather enjoyed last night's episode. I was suprised when Lee decided to work things out with Dee, though sadly this means we won't see the last of the whole Quadrangle thing as we all know that Kara and Lee still have unresolved feelings for one another.

And yes, I'm sick of the relationship crap as well. I imagine it wouldn't bother me as much, but every promo I see lately has some lame Nickelback music playing and a nice collage of the four of them angst-ridden and torn.

I also noticed that Olmos directed this particular episode, and I wonder if that's why we got to see the pres throw some of her weight around. That woman has some steely core if you ask me and it was nice to actually SEE her get angry and raise her voice instead of the usual subdued President Roslyn quietness.

Loved Baltar's scenes. I really am starting to feel torn with the guy. He's been hiding so much and I honestly don't think he's a BAD guy, he's just out for Baltar above all. Will be interesting to see what happens with Caprica 6 aboard Galactica.

Do you think that's why he went to see Baltar earlier? He told Adama he couldn't sleep, but I didn't buy it...

I think they pretty much said as much after the attack. I don't think Gaeta admitted it, but what Roslin said to him more or less made me think she realized his initial going to see Baltar at the beginning was out of a desire to kill him then.

Oh yeah, I can't believe I forgot about it. I too LOVED seeing Roslin's storming down the hallway with Baltar being dragged along behind her while she yelled and screamed at him. That was awesome.

I liked the way they shot it. It was a rather confusing scene, but that's how it would be. Very realistic.

The Fleet's in pretty good hands, really... between Roslin and Adama, I don't know why we're worried. Of course they'll make it.

Yea, I'm going to have to go ahead and, disagree with you there...

Look, I mean I get that in today's TV shows you have to have conflicted characters who are "Grey" when it comes to good and evil, instead of black and white. But here's the thing: The stuff with Baltar not being completely evil or not really a "bad" guy isn't anything new! Hell we all saw that shit in the first season! And here we are halfway through Season 3, and its still "well Baltar had no choice. He's not really a bad guy though" OK. I get that. Enough already. Can we watch something new?

I really think the character Baltar needs to go away, and soon. There just isn't anything new and dramatic they can do with him.

And I also have to disagree with him not being a "bad" guy in the first place. Yes, he didn't knowingly betray the colonies. But if we have seen one thing over the course of these three seasons, its that Baltar has had many, MANY chances to atone for his sins. He could have pointed out Boomer/Sharon was a Cylon in the first season. The list goes on... The bottom line is the guy puts himself above EVERY SINGLE HUMAN LIFE. And folks, where I come from, that DOES make you a bad man. Also a coward.

Hell, frankly this season he has done some outright collaboration with the Cylons after everyone left New Caprica. Yea, he had a gun to his head on New Caprica, and maybe he did at first when he was a prisoner on the Base Ship. But again he demonstrated his ability to sell out his fellow man (whats remaining of his freakin' race for that matter) to save his own ass, and in some later cases, when his life wasn't threatened, he certainly has helped willingly.

Yea so in short. Baltar is indeed bad. The character is also getting tired and stale at this point, and needs to go away.

Anyone like my Bill Lumbergh impersonation?

I must say, I completely forgot about Battlestar Galactica being on until just now. Not really a good sign. My tuner recorded it, but only because I have it set to do so automatically. I wouldn't have got it otherwise. That this show went from being my favorite show on TV to being completely forgotten is just saddening.

Like 24, I've stopped watching but still would like to be updated on major plot developments. Was there a new ep this week or did they hold off because of the Super Bowl?

Have we all decided to stop watching?

This last ep was pretty weak. Where's Doc Roberts been hiding all this time? Oh, yes, on the good ship Plot Device, along with the rest of the despised Sagittarons and their crazy beliefs... some of the dialogue was really crummy, too, telegraphing massively. And I really wanted Helo to be wrong; it would have been far more interesting to have him going crazy. Also, fascinating how they've decided to use the "previously on" as a section for background info they didn't include in prior eps, and how they've started lengthening the eps with these bonus scenes.

Best part? Tigh, and Zarek warning Roslin. And when that's the best this ep has going for it, it's not exactly strong.

If this show doesn't find its way out of the wilderness soon, I may stop caring.
