WB Babylon 5 auctions in 2001 - any info?

I have been searching the forum for information on the Warner Brothers Babylon 5 ebay prop sales that ran at the start of June 2001. While I have seen a couple of posts with some results I was wondering if anyone had the foresight to save the images of the sales and/or the info in listings? And if that person is willing to share that info?

I know...I know, who is this new guy who has never posted here (though has been lurking for some time), joined to asked a question and is now asking something from way back? My name is Alex and apart from being a Babylon 5 fan I'm also a prop-collector (till date mostly historical inspired props and slowly venturing into sci-fi props, with finally since last year a B5 prop).

Welcome to the forum! I'm afraid I don't have any information about the prop auction, but like you I'd be fascinated to find out some details!

Thanks.

I did find an old version of the page on the WB-site, but that only shows a link to their former ebay-account. I know 18 years is a life-time ago and many propcollectors that were active back then didn't migrate to say Facebook (where I need ask this question in several groups as well) or stayed on the forums (those forums that survived the passage of time). I know a lot of early (B5) prop collectors have vanished or at least are difficult to find.

It would be sad if most of the information is lost, though there is a big chance it is.

I remember a number of the items they auctioned and there used to be a page that had photos of many of them but I'm not finding it at the moment. The ones I remember most clearly are the Dreaming chalice, the bowl that Cartagia rinsed his hands with after torturing G'Kar and one of the 'Blip' bracelets from 'Ship of Tears'.

So glad I did not get into that, but I would love to visit a museum. LOL ;) (The reason I say I am glad is because I'd be very paranoid about being the keeper of such treasure. LOL)

So that's the metal bowl I saw. I couldn't place it.

I can only say what a difference a couple of days make, 'cause:

The site you mentioned is probably www.babylon5props.com, which now is the facebook group with the same name. Somehow I missed the album on FB 'cause Troy (the admin) has loads of photos of the WB sale (some with the listing info). Really stupid of me as I'm a member of the group. I contacted him yesterday after find his contact info on babylon5fans.com (well, on an old version at archive.org) and he told me where to look.

The album is here:

And his group is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/babylon5props/

You also made some posts Jan to the posts of the photos in that FB-group.

I didn't had time yet to come back here sooner, but there it is. As for prices, I was able to find this cross referencing several sites:

Metal Psi Corps ID bracelet from one of the telepaths in stasis - $ 102.50
Captain Sheridans Uniform ("Rebirth"?) - $ 6900
Dr. Franklins Earth Alliance Uniform ("Rebirth"?) - around $ 3500
Londo costume - $ 7600
B5 proper - $ 260 (have no idea what was meant by that)

This was the full list I gathered yesterday and the day before, without going through any photos. It matches with the photos, plus some extra's:

Minbari Dream Chalice
B5 Security armor,
Metal Psi Corps ID bracelet from one of the telepaths in stasis - $ 102.50
Captain Sheridans Uniform ("Rebirth"?) - $ 6900
Dr. Franklins Earth Alliance Uniform ("Rebirth"?) - around $ 3500
Londo costum - $ 7600
Brivari Bottle
War Room Console
War Room Chair
Lyta's handcuffs
Floating camera
B5 proper - $ 260
Markab sanctuary sigb from "Plague"-episode
Ivanova's Earth Alliance uniform top (no pants)
G'Kar shirt when tortured by Cartagia
Starfury pilot uniform
Door access card
Pizza box
Casino chip

It seems there were more items than I have found photos of. Like G'Kar's shirt, the Markab sign and the bottle of Brivari.

And - semi - of topic: you've got a great collection from what I saw in an album you posted here. Lots of great pieces. I was able to find my first B5 prop last year: a Dr. Franklin comm link.

Thanks. I've seen a medical coat on ebay a couple of days back if I remember it correctly. Teaming up would be smart though, as I only do John Carter costumes (if I would do more costumes I need to find a bigger place).

Why not start a museum instead, so Looney can come visit and . . . .

That is really off-putting isn't it. ;)

:guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

Believe it or not you're only about the 20th to suggest that...

I DO NOT BELIEVE IT!!!!! :p ;)

Only twenty people have suggested you start a museum. Are you counting other times I suggested it? (I believe at least twice.) :guffaw: :guffaw: :guffaw:

BUT anyway I think it would have to be L.A. based, so it is finally time for Jan to move. LOL

You know if we're really going to start a movement and get people interested I think it should be the first Space Based museum, right?! ;)

On that note, do the Science Fiction museums that are in Seattle and Washington DC have any B5 props on display? I'm sure I recently saw a photo of some B5 costumes on display somewhere, I think one of them might have been Londo's
