Scrapped Kosh scene's

hey im new here, i do sincerely apologise if this has been mentioned before and if its in the wrong place, i dont think it is but im sorry if it is.

okay im a big BIG kosh fan and during my searches for pictures on the internet, i find pictures that look like they are from episodes but i dont recal seeing them. i thought this would be the best place to ask.
were some of these pictures specially posed for or were they from scenes that got scrapped or something? i hope not i dont like the idea of kosh scene's being scrapped

There were lots of promo shots for B5 characters, including Kosh. However, it's hard to speak definitively on the subject without seeing the pictures in question, so feel free to post links to any of the offending pics and I'm sure the good folks here will be kind enough to sound off on each one of them.

Re: Scrapped Kosh scenes

Can you post or link to the specific pictures so we can see what you're referencing?

EDIT: Whoosh! B5_Obsessed got off a post while I was typing. :D I guess it just goes to reaffirm the idea we both had; it'd help to see the referenced pictures.

this one i could have sworn was from the scene in deathwalker, where he walks into the room before saying "you are not ready for immortality"
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/MoretaEchidna/kosh.jpg

this one at first i thought it looked like the scene where he says he would be recognised by everybody but it looks a teeny bit different
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/MoretaEchidna/vorlon.jpg

this is the one that has me boggled the most it looks like its from an episode to me but i cant see it in an episode unless im missing it.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/MoretaEchidna/kosh4.jpg

if any of you can help clear this up for me i would appreciate it very much :D

Looks like a still taken in the scene at the end of The Gathering where Kosh is first introduced to everybody.

Not a clue. I'll have to check the DVD that contains Deathwalker.

Looks like an average still shot that's not part of anything in particular.

Either Grail when Aldous Gajic goes to meet Kosh, or Interludes and Examinations when Morden and the Shadows go to kill Kosh.

Don't remember that one at all. Never saw that much hard light on Kosh. Unless, it's from Interludes and Examinations when Morden and the Shadows go to kill Kosh, and what we're seeing here is part of the effect meant to represent the death struggle.

From The Parliament of Dreams when G'Kar goes to see N'Grath to arrange for a bodyguard? Wasn't Kosh in the background passing through the alien sector? Or it may have been from Grail when Jinxo sees Kosh in the alien sector.

Anyway, there are some places to check.

The piece of set behind Kosh in the first photo looks like it might have a Minbari vibe.. I don't recognise it though, might be In the Beginning. Something about the lighting in kosh4.jpg makes me think it's from the Gathering. It might have been flipped as well, since the small bump above and to one side of Kosh's 'eye' has swapped sides..

There was the scene that was cut out of Midnight on the Firing Line when Kosh goes into C&C, looks out of the window and says "I'll miss this place when it is gone." I don't know if they ever actually filmed that.

A lot of those pictures look like promo pics to me but its hard to tell. Some are from episodes but I don't immediately recognise any.

See, that's a good scene to cut. First off, Kosh never talks like that, in such a clear sentence. Second, we all know he never sees the "destruction" of B5 so for him to say that makes no sense. And Kosh just "assuming" a place will eventually be destroyed in an upcoming Shadow war is pretty far out of character. Heck, I don't think Kosh ever set foot on C&C either.

True. Keeping the younger races befuddled by their speech patterns is the root of the Vorlon sense of humor (Ref. Take My Vorlon Please by Michael Emond )

Well, Sinclair/Valen could have told him, but that was only a possible future (Signs & Portents - The prophecy that Sinclair was shown).

Well, Vorlons have no feet. ;)

Ya know, I was going to put "foot" in quotes because I knew that they technically didn't have any actual feet as it were, but I thought "nah, no one is actually going to call me out on using this figure of speech"

Guess I was wrong.

:)

"Good." <series of twiddles and bips>

The thing about "variant" images is that there are so many places they can come from. Some are publicity stills, some are just candid photos snapped on the set between takes. Others are from unused takes of a scene. You have to remember that every dialogue scene is basically shot at least three times - master shot showing the whole set and all speakers from start to finish, close-ups of each speaker, then reaction shots or other fill and "inserts" for specific actions like pressing buttons or drawing weapons. And each of these specific angles and camera set-ups is usually shot several times, to give the director and producers as many options as possible in the editing. So it isn't unusual for specific angles to show up in books or on the web that were never seen in a series or film, even if they don't represent "cut scenes" but just unused footage from scenes that did end up in the finished work, consisting of footage assembled from other takes.

Regards,

Joe
