B5 Music

Hi,

Not sure if anyone has posted this before (Can't find a search forum function - never mind, found it.) but has anyone heard about the B5 Music parody by Tom Smith?

It's done to the music of One Week by the Bare Naked Ladies and tries to tell the story of B5 in the track.

Cheers

Yeah I have that song. Crappy recording, but it's fun. Only wish it could have a professional recording job, so it'd sound good!

------------------
We're all born as molecules in the hearts of a billion stars, molecules that do not understand politics, policies and differences. In a billion years we, foolish molecules forget who we are and where we came from. Desperate acts of ego. We give ourselves names, fight over lines on maps. And pretend our light is better than everyone else's. The flame reminds us of the piece of those stars that live inside us. A spark that tells us: you should know better. The flame also reminds us that life is precious, as each flame is unique. When it goes out, it's gone forever. And there will never be another quite like it

If you're referring to the song "Enterprising Man", it's available on CD.

For a pretty complete list of Tom Smith's stuff, visit him at:
http://www.tomsmithonline.com/lyrics.htm

He's got a lotta lyrics posted.

BTW, for those who don't kno0w who Tom Smit is, his nickname is "The World's Fastest Filker".
Give him a topic and five minutes and he'll write you a song. And it'll be Funny!

If you haven't seen the insane parody, Babylon Park, you should really check it out at www.babylonpark.com. The Summer 2000 edition, "Grudgematch: Drek Trek Forager vs. Spoosade", needed music for the end credits. Brian Roe contacted me, and I pulled out all the stops to get this from concept to final recording in two weeks. Big props to Voyetra's fun program HipHop eJay, which is nowhere near as powerful as a full sequencer but DAMN can you arrange a great-sounding hip-hop song fast. The song premiered at MarCon, and the video debuted at DragonCon. And now I've got an animated music video, which is cooler than cool.

CHOCO-LATTE
Who says space is the final frontier?
Babe, I want to explore what you got right here,
We're supposed to be seeking out strange new worlds,
Let's call it like it is, y'all: we're looking for girls.

Seeking out new life, and civilizations,
New parties, Bacardi, and tarty gyrations,
That's why I signed up for all the Star Treks,
Science fiction? Adventure? Bring on the sex.

I?m on the Forager, we all be in luck,
And I bet you were hopin? this line would rhyme,
Banana Toejamma got appeal and soul,
And when Francy gets fancy, she's out of control.

2 of D, who needs the SmorgasBorg Queen? I wanna
Meet her sister Triple, if you know what I mean.
Assimilate away, babe, I think you'll find
That resistance is not what I had in mind.

CHOCO-LATTE (singing)
My continuing mission and ambition's your permission,
Babe, I gotta boldly go where everybody else is wishin',
Set my phaser on Amaze Her, lotsa ways to set the stage,
I'm an Enterprising man, so prepare to engage.

CHOCO-LATTE (rapping)
Meanwhile, over on the Spoosade,
Buncha people who really ought to get laid
Gidiot? He's s'posed to kick butt,
All he does is stand around, goin? --

GIDIOT
Wait a minute. What?

CHOCO-LATTE
The man got a thing for Lizzy Looselips,
Girl's shoulders are wider than the girl's hips,
Gaiman standin' round, bein' profound,
Don't make a sound unless he got plot to expound.

Techno-bores should be seen and not heard,
So listen up, baldie, 'n' don't say a -

THREEVOK
Word.

CHOCO-LATTE
XO, Telepath, get in your head,
Lookin' for ways to get into your bed.

Me, I'm lookin' at Copin'a'Feel,
Gotta find out if those things be real.
Babylon Park -- everybody agrees:
Mankind?s last, best hope for a piece.

CHOCO-LATTE (singing)
And it's Drek Trek: Forager versus Spoosade,
If you're checkin' out the story, be very afraid,
Earth's infected with a virus, but it's only a pawn,
Winner gets to save the universe --

MILLS LORIEN
Let's get it on!

CHOCO-LATTE (rapping)
Two big bad science fiction universes,
Emphasis on the 'bad', and what's worse is,
We got to be thankful, for all that it's worth,
'Cause we could be watching Battlefield Earth.

Gidiot and Painway, peas in a pod,
Each thinkin' they're some kind o' minor god,
On a power trip, shootin' from the hip, givin' lotsa lip,
They need someone to explain their own ship.

I been thinkin' awhile, plannin' things through,
Gettin' ready to finally dump this crew.
Chim Chim try to play, but he only be looking,
Everybody can smell what Threevok is cooking.

Hold up, that's Kneelicker, thinks he's a chef,
I've tasted his food, and his palate's cleft.
At last, with trepidation, I come to the Captain,
Least, that's what I'm hopin' someday, an' now this rap's done.

Hi,

The title is Five years, and it goes like this:-

Words: © 1998 Tom Smith, from an idea by Tom Smith and Leslie Larkins
Music: "One Week" by Ed Robertson, from the Barenaked Ladies album Stunt

It's been... five years since we went online,
Laurel Takashima's gone, but Susan's so fine,
Five years since the Vorlon came,
Someone tried to kill him, Sinclair didn't take the blame,
Twelve years since we held the Line,
Twenty-four hours missing outta Jeff's mind,
Yesterday, it went off TV.,
But it'll still be okay, 'cause we got the story.

Oh my God, how it enthralled me, with Garibaldi,
He's getting' balder every season.
He got attacked, his buddy Jack, he went and shot him in the back,
To keep on track the planned assassination/treason.
Hot like Ivanova and Talia, we're gonna Draal ya,
And then we'll kick a little Zathras,
Al Bester's in the Psi Corps, we got a mind war,
Ironheart's the mower and you're the grass.
Lennier and Vir will share a beer and watch Adira disappear,
Without her, Londo's Morden likely bound for darkness,
So it begins, and then Delenn will spin Triluminary
Thin and glowing spiderwebs and step into the Chrysalis.

G'Kar is helpless, then he's hostile, then a holy man,
Trying hard not to smile in front of Sheridan,
I'm the kinda guy who laughs at the Shadow horde,
Can't understand, then you're not a three-edged sword,
I have a tendency to do my thinking with my hands,
I have a history of taking off my gloves.

It's been... five years since Third Age began,
John met Delenn, but Anna would be back again,
Five years since we met Neroon,
He ended up a hero, started out a major loon,
Three years since the Shadow War,
Nastier than any aliens we've seen before,
Yesterday, all the Narns were freed,
But there is something still Keeping hold on Centauri.

Medieval Marcus, the Rescue Ranger,
Lorien shows up, and things get stranger,
Watching out the window of a White Star, it came from Minbar,
And then we'll steal Babylon Four.
Sinclair's fork would be a Valen Tine, he travels through time,
And Ba-Bear-Lon Five is too cute.
Lyta comes back and she's eyin' a guy named Byron,
And Reebo in a Zooty Zoot Suit.
Gonna meet the violence with defiance and Alliance
Cause the giants left the playground with a lot of blood and sorrow.
Gonna get a room on Z'Ha'Dum, the ship'll zoom,
And then go Boom Shubba Lubba 'cause there's always one tomorrow.

How can I help it if I think they're driving Johnny mad?
All the time used to smile, now he's Dave's dad,
I'm the kinda guy who'd rather walkabout than run,
Can't understand why they killed their own son.
I have a tendency to shorten everybody's hair,
I have a history of lopping off heads.

It's been... five years since "The Gathering",
Beginning, middle, end, Joe wrapped up the whole thing,
Five years since we saw this show,
How good it was gonna get, there was no way to know,
Three years since we really knew,
We voted Joe a Hugo, then we gave him Number Two,
Yesterday, it went off TV.,
But we have still got "Crusade", so we ain't too sorry.

Still got "Crusade", so we ain't too sorry.
Still got "Crusade", so we ain't too sorry.
Bring me the head of Londo Mollari.

Got it, love it.

"There are moments when we all become someone else, something other than what we are. It takes only a moment, but we spend the rest of our lives looking back at that moment in shame."

I get it from napster a year ago

the quality is perfect, dunno, maybe you got another version.

------------------
I have carefully selected the following words of wisdom for my signature:
"Gravity, you win again." - Zack Brannigan.
"Real men over-clock their modems!" - Vertigo.
"Death to SIERRA/TNT/XOOM/Fortunecity" - Me.

I highly doubt there are multiple versions of this song going around.

I guess I'm just really picky about music quality. You can have the gretest song in the world, but if it isn't recorded or mixed properly, it just sounds like crap.

The song isn't bad, just doesn't have anything to it. Guitar and vocals just doesn't do it for me (esp when compared to the orignial song it's parodying)
