Ken Jennings is back!

Regular
Jeopardy fans have been treated (or subjected) to a mult-month long Ultimate Spectacular Super Tournament of Ultra-Hyper-Mega Champions, in which all of the best previous champs have been facing off to end up with two players to take on Ken Jennings in a 3-day egghead Battle Royale. This occassion is finally upon us this week (yesterday, today, tomorrow). The winner is determined by adding the amount won on all three days.

The first day delivered on its promise: Ken is facing equally strong challengers and came in second place. Anyone who wants to see Ken fight for a victory and struggle should tune in today and tomorrow.

I missed it last night but I'm glad to hear he came in second. I hope he gets beat again.

This Tournament of Champions just makes me wonder if someone else could have done what Jennings did. It's too bad they were limited to the rules early on. Now you can keep going as long as you can.

I liked the tournament. I'm rooting for either of the non-Ken contestants but my heart is with the guy who looks like a porn director. Last week during the interview section of his semifinal bit for each contestant was how the money really wasn't the most important thing. When my favorite's turn arrived he said of course it's about the money. That's my kind of guy.

Well last night Ken got his ass whupped. He is in second place but at a significant distance from the dude in 1st place.

I'm so glad he lost.

Knowing he was about to lose, Jennings wrote "Go Brad" as part of his final answer in the game televised Wednesday.

He had more to lose than a game. The defeat could bruise the Utah resident's mystique, especially since he is trying to turn his trivia prowess into a career -- with his own board game, book and Comedy Central game show in the works.

Jennings loses.

I doubt it'll hurt his chances of having his own board game and game show.

I thought it was just the way he carried himself during his run on Jeopardy, like acting like he was thinking about the question when he got a Double Jeopardy and then answering correctly at the last second. Another time early on he had just less than twice the amount of the dude in second place with one answer left. He got it, thus ensuring his victory in Final Jeopardy, but let out a huge "Whew!" right after he got that last answer. That wasn't very good sportsmanship in my opinion.

He was overly gracious for a dude that won 74 times in a row, in which the vast majority of the contests were not challenge for him.

I bet if that guy who won this week was on for an entire year you'd have been rooting for Ken.

He was never as tense and into the competition as he was this week, probably due to a combination of his reputation being on the line and facing a really great opponent.

Did you see that Latin category on the last day of the tournament? Goddamn!

Never discount the mormon creepiness. One thing that bothered me during his run was his mortification that one of Trebek's jokes might lead people to think he actually drank alcohol. Gasp.

He did make it difficult to hate him at times and is certainly more likeable now that his run is in the past.
