The birth of Babylon 5

The Scripts Team sent out a mailing this morning that some folks might be interested in.

About 10 years ago, JMS allowed the notes that he'd written down after getting out of the fateful shower where he got the true picture of B5 to be published in his "Last Word" column in the Official Babylon 5 Magazine. The Scripts Team has posted the entire column here.

It's amazing how much of the original plan really happened. Some of you may have read it back then or may still have the magazines but many more haven't, so enjoy.

That reads a lot more like what we got than the 5-year Sinclair arc that was released in the bonus scriptbook. Granted, it's not as specific as the Sinclair bit, so maybe it's the details that throw it off, but this short bit tracks pretty much all over.

The documentary idea is new to me. You can see aspects of that with the narration, ISN segments and in 'the deconstruction of falling stars'.

IIRC the opening narration of each season was written in the past tense spcifically to imply that it was retrospective of the events from sometime in the future ... the most obvious example being The Gathering.
