Series

Did anyone else notice, the opening of the movie seemed a lot more like a series, with first a minute of footage to open it, then the title sequence, then when it returned after the commercial a Title, like an episode title. Might it be they've already decided to make a series?

No. This was shot as a series pilot and they elected to go with that style of titles. The titles would have been completed months ago, and it is not a trivial matter to change them. If Sci-Fi had made a commitment to produce a series, they would have advertised this as a preview of a new show, not merely as at TV movie. No deicision will be made until after they've seen the ratings.
