Notice How The Minbari Ship on DVD Looks Romulan?

Dayton3

I've been a major Star Trek fan for decades.

In particular I've searched for ship designs in other science fiction that resembles Romulan ships.

Notice in the new DVD how much the (Valen class cruiser is it?) looks like something the Romulans on Star Trek might use?

Very birdlike. Even the colors are similiar.

Interesting to me at least.

Funny, I thought it looked like a flying fish.

Yeah, I thought fish too, like the original Minbari ships. Only one of those tropical fish with whiskers, perhaps, instead of one of those tall skinny ones.
Although from a distance the silhouette is maybe a little similar to the Scimitar from Star Trek: Nemesis..

Oh, like one of the (Japanese?) fighting fish (lionfish?) as seen the movie "The Naked Gun" (remember the one that bit Leslie Nielsen/Lt. Frank Drebin on the nose, and he later stabbed with the non-waterproof, priceless pen?). One of those?

(Hey, it's the only image that came to mind. <shrug> Sorry, fish aren't my bailiwick.)

Saw it last in the theater, so don't remember. I didn't think the movie was too bad, but then everybody else ripped it to shreds, and I just haven't bothered to watch it again since.

I thought it was more like a ray fish.

Yeah, definitely like a ray in the mouth area, and maybe with its "wings" somewhere in downward flap, but I think the wing (horizontal fin) shape is more like flying fish, not as broad as a ray's wings.

I thought the Minbari ship looked Minbari! :D

Their ships were always a bit bird-like, a bit fish-like, organic and curved and with dolphin-like fins. Nothing struck me as particularly 'Romulan' about the new Valen-class; in fact I'd say the old Valen-class ship from Legend of the Rangers made me think of Star Trek more.

The only bit that almost looked a bit Romulan is the shape of the wings. That reminded me a little of the Romulan ships. However everything else about it (the colour, the rest of the design) just looks like a new Minbari ship.

Though it definately looks less like a fish than the original Minbari cruisers.
