I haven't bothered going to the cinema for Bond movies in the past, but with the utter lack of anything beckoning me to the cinema otherwise ...

... is it any good? Is it worth going to the cinema for? :p

it is really good, and a hell of a lot more like the books, it turns out Craig was a great choice. remembering that in the books commander bond is a narcissistic misogynist with alcohol dependency issues, he isn't quite there though i would be more than happy if Daniel Craig did a good few more bond movies. The ending is good as well, and if you haven't read the books quite a surprise

If they remake On Her Majesty's Secret Service, they'll have the perfect motivation from the plot to solidify bond's failings as a human where women and alcohol are concerned.

Its superb really, all good except the song.

I'm a big old school Bond fan, and was massively sceptical about any kid of re-boot, but it was all very very good, with twists and turns and a cliff-hanger of sorts. I'd like to see him drink more heavily as well though.

Just see it. Trust me.

While not quite as enthusiastic as the posts above, I thought it was pretty good, and yea, you should see it.

The movie is pretty good... :D LOVED the car!

Sorry. I just edited out a spoiler. :( I didn't realize it when I first wrote it, but I don't want to ruin it for someone who hasn't seen the movie.

I love David Arnold, Chirs Cornell and his Audioslave / Soundgarden stuff, I just felt the song was less than the sum of its parts. And I really, really like Bond themes. The movie certianly made up for it though...

Saw it today .. it was quite good, in spite of the morons that run the movie theatre, that put a break into the middle of the movie .. and forgot that this was the English screening, and continued with the German audio after the break.

The title sequence was awesome. Not too big on the song .. though I like lots of Chris Cornell's stuff, it just felt a bit .. flat somehow. Lots of loud, no soul, no melody.

Craig is butt ugly, and doesn't look like James Bond .. but his performance was quite .. unique.

Definitely better than any recent Bond movies I've seen at least.

... only thing that really bugged me :D .. okay, I know that geographical consitency and the such isn't really a James Bond thing. But having street signs telling you which district of Prague you were in in Montenegro was pushing it a bit :D .. as was the endless amount of signs in the background and the such with Czech lettering on it(GAH, it's not even the right alphabet!). Hell, even the police cars had Czech lettering on them! .. it seems like their Montenegro was .. one Montenegran flag and a set of Montenegran arm patches for the police officers :D

... I guess it might have been less annoying for people that have not been to the questions in country (one of them at least, in my case) .. for me though, it was a bit much though :D

The song was not a traditional James Bond song. I missed the naked girls doing gymnastics.

I think there's a point to the no naked girls doing gymnastics. Bond isn't quite at the point where women are entirely objects. Yes he sees them as pleasures and not pursuits... but his cynicism hasn't fully taken hold... I shall say no more lest others have yet to see it.

read the books if you haven't already, daniel craig isn't ugly enough.

admittedly, I haven't. My definition of what Bond should look like is based on prior movie Bonds :D

This Wikipedia page has a drawing of Bond commissioned by Ian Fleming himself (so therefore, one would imagine, quite close to how IF sees him) to assist those drawing a comic strip version of the stories for the Daily Express.

That drawing is the spitting image of Clive Owen! He was considered for Bond, but didn't get the part. I would have liked to see him get it. I haven't seen Casino Royale yet, but it does sound good.

i would have liked to have seen him get it too, but if you look at his best performance and craigs you have owen in croupier, and craig in layer cake, craig's performance was so much better, and he did get the job because barbara broccoli saw him in it and said that our new bond.
