BFI Greatest Sci-Fi Characters of All Time

The British Film Institute, or BFI, are having a major celebration of science fiction this October through to December: http://www.bfi.org.uk/sci-fi-days-fear-wonder

As part of the event they are conducting a series of 'best of' polls, and the first one is open now, which is the Greatest Sci-Fi Characters of All Time! http://www.bfi.org.uk/sci-fi/greatest-sci-fi-characters-all-time

You get three votes – my first two are going to Londo and Captain Kirk, can't decide on the third but I'd like it to be a B5 character for partisan reasons. The BFI is quite high profile in the UK and this would be a great time to remind everyone over here how good Babylon 5 is. Presumably other polls will also include best TV show etc. So get voting!

Went with Londo, G'Kar and Kirk in the end. Time to make use of my alternate e-mail addresses to make multiple votes!

Done! Londo and G'Kar! The BFI is awesome, responsible for putting out so many great obscure films and lost gems.

So they have released the results - and wow! G'Kar reached number 6 in the poll! Londo was 16th, Ivanova 28th, Sheridan 29th, Delenn 30th, Bester 75th, Sinclair 82nd, Lyta 83rd, Garibaldi 93rd.

I'm seriously impressed with how high G'Kar polled! The top five are Doctor Who, Ripley, Darth Vader, Avon from Blakes' 7 and Captain Reynolds from Firefly. The highest rated Star Trek character was Spock in tenth place. Here's the full list: http://www.bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/news-bfi/announcements/best-sci-fi-characters-all-time-verdict

5 characters in the top 30 is certainly impressive, trek only got 3 with 5 different series and 12 films to choose from.
