    Babylon 5 on Blu-Ray?

They do, in places, look grainy as hell, and with a lot of scratches and dust. I think a good new telecine could help, but there probably would need to be some fairly substantial cleaning up done, either physical or digital, to make the prints look good in HD. I don't think it's beyond the realm...

    Mindwalker and Evolution

I believe that's true, and IIRC this is also made pretty clear in "To Dream in the City of Sorrows".

B5:TLT -- just the news. And we mean that.

Well, they have this thing called "mail" now, where they can send you things. And it then gets delivered at your door, even all the way to Brabant. ;)

    Marcus???

No word about that. But JMS has mentioned that the TLT format is flexible enough to allow hopping in the timeline, and maybe do things like a Marcus or Sinclair story, which wouldn't be possible without that flexibility. So there's hope, I suppose.

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I'm not sure that's a conclusion you could really draw from the limited amount of information we get about the Hand in LotR. Though, to be honest, it's been a while since I watched it.

Would you replace your DVD sets?

I was actually quite amazed at how much the station in TLT looked like the original. It's a bit less true for some of the other things, but the station at least looks amazingly accurate to how the station base model ended up looking around season 4 to 5-ish. Just with more polygonal detail and...

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Thanks Jan, much appreciated. It's nice to have a scriptgoddess around. ;) And I don't think we're imagining the hand shape of the fire, but I'm not quite sure if there is any significance to it beyond a nice visual.

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I noticed the same thing. I have been meaning to ask Jan if the script has any specific directions for how the space fire shots should look.

    Crusade - The Lost Tales???

Well, if you carefully read that first message, you'll see it was written in that odd period after the first 13 were finished and it seemed like Crusade was in limbo, but on the other hand that there might still be some hope for a go ahead anyway. The second post was written in 2002, obviously...

    Crusade - The Lost Tales???

I'm not getting my hopes up that this will ever happen in any sort of substantial form, but yes. I'd be all over a proper Crusade continuation. edit: Oh, and I'm almost certain those sets won't be around anymore. Do you have any idea the amount of money it would cost to keep around sets in...

Would you replace your DVD sets?

There is one big "but" there though. Which is that said trailblazers from the start intended the CG work to eventually be redone for a wide frame and at HD resolutions. This would've been trivial had the files not been lost, and would now require a much more substantial effort. But with that...

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I also liked the way you put this. And in addition, one of the Babylon Podcasters mentioned how he really liked that Father Cassidy didn't go to the other side, destroyed by doubts about his faith in an instant, and instead approaches it in a very measured way. As I've said on the newsgroup, if...

Would you replace your DVD sets?

I have made this argument before, but I might as well make it again. :) I would love to see a new version of B5 that had its fully CG and comped shots redone. Not because I think the old version is bad; I think it is iconic and historically significant, and in fact I would actually like to see...

B5:TLT -- just the news. And we mean that.

Yeah, it's weird that it didn't go up day-and-date. From what I understand the HD version of TLT finally went up yesterday though. :)

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Speaking about lighting, I do like how dark VitD looked. If you look at the original show, you can kind of see how it get progressively brighter in its lighting as time goes on. The Gathering was shot really dark, maybe a bit too much, season 1 had a really nice look I thought. For season 2 they...

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

It really does seem that your opinion on TLT depends on with what perspective you approached. The glorious return of Babylon 5 the series that will now answer all the open questions, or an anthology show that would tell small b-stories and individual character focused tales, and might only...

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

I've been looking actually, but haven't really found anything. The two big retail trackers are Rentrak's Retail Essentials and Nielsen's VideoScan. Both require a hefty sum to get access to the data, but at least VideoScan's numbers show up in some of the public charts, like billboard.com...

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Well, JMS did say we would see David in the next disc at NYCC. And the way Sheridan explained to Vintari how he would live with them, it does seem they could have those two characters together. And while there are some big unresolved events, or events we know happen but not exactly how or why...

B5:TLT - Show Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

That's absolutely true, and something that sadly might not have been clear to everyone for this first disc, leading to some being disappointed. On the other hand, the way Over There was told, and concluded, seems very B5 seedlaying to me, and could be continued upon should JMS so choose to. It...

    B5:TLT Actual DISCUSSION Thread

I think TLT may have been acquired in 24fps. PAL releases traditionally are sped up compared to the NTSC releases, to compensate for a difference in framerate. NTSC doesn't run on 24fps either, but there the speed of the video can be preserved by doing a pulldown. E.g. if you have LotR on R2...
