The Road Home review thread (contains spoilers)

What this highlights - to me at least - is the importance of the entire team behind a production. It's clear that those producing the visuals and sound had very little or no knowledge of the original show. . . . and as this was just another gig for them they didn't put the time in to research...

The Road Home review thread (contains spoilers)

I'm the exact opposite when it comes to TRH. Apart from the Babylon 5 name, and a few familiar voices, this didn't feel like B5 at all. Of course, you couldn't cram an epic slow burning multi season story arc into 80 minutes, but for me this just felt . . . . well, generic, rushed, almost...

That looks a LOT like Marcus. Has anything been mentioned about why Jason Carter wasn't brought back for the role.

    The Babylon 5 Preservation Project

I prefer BBS style forums – far less cluttered, and more structured than most of the social media platforms - I'm guessing that will be down to them NOT being designed for ease of scrolling on mobile devices. You being sarcy there Loon - good for you. :) I did hear of something happening last...

    The Babylon 5 Preservation Project

Why would you be curious about that? This is a place where some of the folks who signed up visit and post occasionally . . . like yourself (though you seem more interested in why I asked . . .here!?) . . Weird, anyway, I'm hoping one of the others might shed a bit a light on the delivery date...

    The Babylon 5 Preservation Project

I noticed that the May 2021 update includes information about the release date for the book. Can anyone who signed up shed a bit of light on that. As of today it's now a year overdue from the initially expected release.

    WB considering HD update

I'm thinking more along the lines of some folks will feel - you shouldn't be telling fans this - for whatever reason. Which is why I haven't made a big deal about it on something like the behind the scenes page over on FB. Words like "approved" by WB have been used so no idea how far along the...

So much for the f'ing spoiler tag. Took me ages to figure out how to use those bloody things as well. :) :)

    WB considering HD update

Spoken to three people who have spoken to jms about the request for the 3D model files. The details vary slightly, though there's not a lot to begin with. Anyway, that's the gist of what jms has revealed/said.

    WB considering HD update

Actually. IGNORE what I said earlier, I've now got some details about the project and Warner Bros IS involved, but it isn't a remaster - it's something new. The models have been requested more for references purposes as they're not actually needed for this new thing. I'd reveal what it is...

    WB considering HD update

The CGI, in relative terms at least, is reasonably straight forward to re-render - assuming you have the scene files. They hold all the virtual camera. lighting and model movement information. If you don't have those then it would take some time to make a decent approximation at recreating...

    WB considering HD update

Funnily enough just uploaded the re-rendered opening sequence from Acts of Sacrifice and included 3 new scenes at the start using the original models (25 seconds roughly) - would have added more to tie it all together a bit better, but first time doing it and didn't want to add too much...

    WB considering HD update

In truth I don't know what it is, just know what it isn't. Basically talking with someone who knows but the bugger won't tell me. All I know is it's not a remaster or Warner related, jms has been having a few email conversations with fans stepping forward, and even fan models are something...

    Not a remaster.

Babylon 5: What should One watch?

John Copeland summed it up pretty well. How it is difficult to make lightning strike twice, and how jms hadn’t had anything like the same amount of time to work out the Crusade story. . . I know it’s something I can harp on about, but a tv show is also a lot more than simply the vision of one...

Babylon 5 and The Theory of an Ever Changing Environment

Don’t know if this fits the criteria of this idea, but one of the biggest changes between the gathering and the series was the Centauri. In the pilot G’Kar was blackmailing Londo by threatening to reveal his family had committed some war crime against the Narn. Londo didn’t want this released...

Wise. And thanks for the Gateworld thing. For some reason, this time I really don't fancy doing the usual rounds of spamming forums about the news!?

    B5Scrolls is back up

I hate it when others start sentences like this. . . . . But I’ve got a vague memory :) That Marshal Teague did see it when it was published on the behind the scenes facebook page a few years ago, and made a comment about the weight of the suit (something like 50-70 pounds) . . . I might be...
