Re: Is it time to go beyond the rim?

Re re-boot I'll believe it when I see it. IMHO Kevin Spacey would make a good Bester.

Re: EpDis: Severed Dreams

I really wish someone would release a dvd set in full screen. The cut and paste on the widescreen is at times unwatchable and episodes like this one with high cgi factor prove the point.

Re: full screen dvds

Do you know which episodes are still widescreen? If they're not overly relevant to the arc I can skip them!

full screen dvds

Anyone know if B5 is available on DVD in full screen? I think watching it this way would make the CGI look better

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

The problem with the telepath storyline in Season 5 is that I can think of no reason why the telepaths cannot have a homeworld. The universe is a big place there must be a planet/habitable moon...

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

The key to season 5 is the reconciliation between G'Kar and Londo. Also there's more Bester and he gets his own episode!

Re: DVD omen?

No change in cover art although they have aligned season 5 spine with seasons 1-4 which was a small thing but annoying!

DVD omen?

Just saw the B5 DVDs back in the stores here in Australia. Is it a sign that the reboot is on its way? Haven't seen them for years maybe something is going on!

Re: Who was the real star of the whole series?

Because normals hated telepaths and he stood up for his own kind though sometimes in slightly morally dubious ways

Re: Who was the real star of the whole series?

Has to be Al Bester. Should have been in more episodes and the Telepath War should have been covered. His character was the ultimate contradiction - I cheered for him because he stood up for his...

Re: EpDis: Rising Star

I always skip this episode. Try going straight from 'Endgame' to 'Deconstruction of Fallen Stars' and you'll see what I mean. The formation of the alliance is implied while retaining an element of...

Re: Watching Babylon 5 in 2015

I re-watched last year but I don't have the time to watch every episode so I selected those that had arc significance which ended up being 70 episodes with only a few story gaps. I also watched In...

Which storylines disappointed the most?

While the overall story arc of B5 was well done given the constraints of studio, budget, and actors coming/going I found a few storylines disappointing:

1) No 1 beef of all time - The Telepath...

Re: In the episode where talia gets deleted..

Maybe JMS was pissed that Andrea Thompson (Talia) was leaving the show!! Seriously though I agree that the command staff didn't even consider the consequences of the 'victim's' personality being...

Re: I Have A New WORST B5 Episode, and it is....

Born To The Purple was quite good - Trakis was an interesting character and Londo's love for Adira would be important for later plot development.

Re: How would you reboot B5?

NO to focusing on the Rangers (remember TLOTR?)
NO to retelling the same story (the beauty of B5 was not knowing what was coming)
NO to Technomages (not relevant enough)
NO to continuing Crusade...

Re: I Have A New WORST B5 Episode, and it is....

Certainly 'Survivors' has the worst acting performance by the stiff and wooden Major Kemmer. Also the Zarg ruined "Grey 17 Is Missing' despite some interesting arc points. 'A View From The Gallery'...

Telepath War

Why did JMS tease us all series long about the telepath war and then not devote any episodes to it? Or a movie? It would have added more to the story than what Thirdspace or River Of Souls did. In...

Re: Select Remastering

I don't think a blu ray release is necessary or will happen. A good idea would be to re-do the sfx on a new dvd release as they don't fit the widescreen well.

Worst Acting Performance

One of the few things that disappointed me about B5 was the quality of acting by some of the minor or one time characters. I guess they only had the money to pay the main cast!

Who do you think...

Re: Babylon 5: Ten Lost Tales that Sholud Be Found

I don't live in the US so not sure how HBO works but they seem to make good quality shows and reduce the cost by making only 10 episode seasons. Game of Thrones probably uses as much SFX as a new...

Re: Aborted Reboot

The books were more about Bester's fate than the Psi Corps. The war itself was not really covered and could sustain a series if blended with other elements.

Re: Fan Films

JMS surely took inspiration from other people's work. The Psi Corps seems pretty similar to Philip K Dick's Teep Corps from his 1955 book Solar Lottery. Is that plagiarism?

Re: Season 1 hump....

Season 1 - Not enough of Mr Bester and friends! Season 4's Bester-Garibaldi and Season 5's Bester-Byron stories were the best. A close third is Londo's entire series journey.

The Telepath War is too big for a TV movie. Only a miniseries would do, preferrably 10 to 20 hours.

As far as I'm concerned, the only truly disappointing B5 TV movie was the Rangers...
