Re: Thoughts on the Great Eye

What stands out for me on the show was that the "eye" is very obviously influenced by the eye of Sauron from LOTR. Ivanova encountering it whilst using the great machine especially seems very similar...

Re: Is it time to go beyond the rim?

I think the nature of this place(with a focus on individual episodes) tends to mean that activity will go up and down. if you have people doing a rewatch of the series you might get a significant...

Re: EpDis: Severed Dreams

Besides a lot of the typical praise this episode gets I personally wouldn't underrate the role Bruce McGill plays. I'm reminded a lot of the Quantum Leap finale where he plays the Bartender/God/Fate...

Re: EpDis: The Coming Of Shadows

Sinclair was definitely portrayed as more self confident than Sheridan and IMHO more morally enlightened which gave the latter a lot more room to develop in.

A big issue as well IMHO is simply...

Re: EpDis: The Coming Of Shadows

Personally I think Sheridan felt more "real" in terms of feeling more fallible. I felt Sinclair had more gravitas but also generally the sense of a man with a destiny where as with Sheridan in...

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

I'd guess again the situation wasn't helped by potentially looking to end after 4 seasons. That short talk Sheridan has with Bester on the subject in Rising Star would I'd guess have been much longer...

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

Once the possibility of the spin-off came around, that's certainly possible.

The way I see it, the unevenness of season 5 was due to the need to build up momentum again since there was so little...

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

I think a big issue with season 5 generally in terms of "lessons not being leart" to the degree you might expect is that the focus is partly shifted from completing the B5 story towards setting up...

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

The slowmo stuff was patchy I'd agree, Refa's death and G'kars capture were I think done very well but some of the latter fights it seemed like a bit of a cover.

One thing I always liked in the...

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

B5 was never on the level of a high end Hong Kong actioner but I actually felt that a lot of the previous fight choreography could be pretty good, at least relative to Trek of the same era. The Narn...

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

Yeah I would agree with that, I think watching season 5 does rather bring out that Ivanova added alot of personality to the human side of the story, Londo and G'kar have that energy and irreverence...

Re: Is it time to give season 5 another chance?

That was always a bit of a problem I had with Lochley, the nature of the character seems to have to be to detract from the competence of those around her. Obviously the main cast were always fallible...

Re: Who was the real star of the whole series?

The Corps storyline does seem to be an area that any reboot could potentially expand on to offer something a bit different to the original although I'm not sure its well suited for films.
